my thoughts on the 2006 line so far

This is based on what Brickset lists under "2006" Lego really needs to make less moulds and in particular, less new moulds. They keep making new moulds for sets instead of re-using their old ones. Some lines are worse for this than others. Here is (...) (20 years ago, 11-Feb-06, to lugnet.general)

  Modular Hill Standard

COLTC, the Central Ohio LEGO Train Club, has come up with a modular hill standard. The goal of this standard was to provide more height-variations into layouts, and increase the number of running trains. (URL) There are a variety of ways these (...) Actually, this means that all the Primo I stashed over the years will finally be coming out for use, and I'll have to start sharing my already huge DUPLO collection. :-) I'm glad I stocked up on TOOLO when it was still (...) (...) If you have an rail-powered train running constantly on each track and augment the layout by manually running an IR train on each track as well, then a set of batteries will easily get you through a day at most shows. Use rechargeable (...) (21 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Well, you can build enormous and very strong structures out of Lego - there are people who've built life-sized dinosaurs and such. With enough Lego and careful construction, I have no doubt you could build something that would carry 50 or 60 (...) (21 years ago, 9-Dec-05, to lugnet.robotics)
