Okay, okay, my Photoshop skilz rule Monaco, but thats about it.
Actually, there is a little more to the story....
We at the TCLTC have a Thomas the Tank Engine area of our layout, and so when we
found out that there were going to be a few new Thomas characters released, we
naturally got excited. The new characters are
Cranky and
Harold, and we thought
it would be fun if we could animate them (Okay, Ross thought that would be
fun). So, that is what he did:
*************************MUTILATION ALERT*********************** (Rob, commence
drooling now)
A slight modification was necessary to make Harolds propeller spin, and that
was to d-d-d-drill a
hole through the pin on his roof. Ross took it from there. He simply used a 9
volt battery with a snap attachment (?) and
spliced it to a LEGO
wire, and connected it to a LEGO motor. Simple! The motor, which is spinning
the blades directly without gearing down, makes a nice noise and generates
convincing, high speed RPMs. The spinning blade pics such as
this are NOT
Photoshopping, but taken with a shutter speed of 1/60 of a second for the
blurring effect.
Also, Ive posted a coupla pics of the
Crankie set (#3301);
one showing the duplo 8x8
turn-table element.
Weve discussed motorizing this set as well, but modification would need to be a
lot more extensive and so that little project will sit on the back burner for
now.
Peep peep!
