I ran around Rochester, NY yesterday and found very little compared to 2-4 years
ago.

Targets:
$25 Durmstrang Ship (#4768, $50), only 2 of them at 1 Target (I got 1)
$13 Battle Wagon (#8874, $20), only 1 between 2 Targets...
$13 Duplo Purple Bucket (#5352, $20), only 1 between 2 Targets
And Thomas the Train stuff

So, I saw less than 10 sets clearanced between 2 Targets...

K-Mart:
No clearanced Lego, in fact, the only K-Mart here had I think _2_ Lego sets...

Wal-Mart
Some $30 Spider-Man set and some other $30 set for $21.  Pretty leveled
otherwise.

Toys 'R Us:
Clearanced?  Sale?  Do they ever?  I don't remember if they do, but not now...
Between 2 Toys 'R Us' stores, _0_ Viking Sets, and for Harry Potter they had
Rescue from the MErpeople and The Durmstrang Ship (No Graveyard Duel or
Hungarian Horntails).
Lots of new Exo-Force.

Every place had a bunch of Bionacle (Visorak Battle Rams, Battle of Metru Nui),
and KKII sets (Vladek's Dark Fortress, Fireball Catapult), at regular price, as
well as Dino-Attack and a smattering of SW:Episode III sets (Clone Turbo Tank,
ARC-170 Starfighter, General Grievous Chase).

No Viking sets makes me sad, as I still need to get the small boat :(

Or maybe TLC is paying for less shelf space this year, and retailers are
drawing down their stock for the smaller space? Maybe the recent job cuts
have reduced TLC's manufacturing capacity?

Marc Nelson Jr.

So, are these the types of questions Jake might be able to answer?  I was
curious as to why there is so little Lego left at many stores, and was hoping it
was a sign that Lego did well at least!

So, I hit 3 more area Targets today.... 1 had lots of (new) Lego (the new Classic Star Wars was what I most noticed), while the other 2 had... well, the line from the person working the Toy section should sum it up... Me: Excuse me, but do you have (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jan-06, to lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Yeah, I'm guessing that everyone was tired of constantly putting LEGO on clearance, and finally ordered less this year. It is kind of strange that the shrinkage has been so consistent over different retailers. Or maybe TLC is paying for less (...) (19 years ago, 28-Dec-05, to lugnet.market.shopping, FTX)
