Re: RCX 1.0 at Georgia LEGO Outlet store (9709)

(...) Yeah, but unfortunatly you can't get the 1.0 in a kit any more. And since the 1.0 has the power jack, it's much more useful to me than a 1.5 jt (23 years ago, 19-May-01, to lugnet.market.shopping)

Re: Questions about the first version of the control center console

(...) I think it would be more prudent to connect a 9V DC supply. Unlike the RCX, whose external power jack is marked to receive 9-12 V~, that is raw AC. (...) Sure thing. Guess I have not been too diligent in updating this site. (22 years ago, 17-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Replacement RCX Cost?

Rob's suggestion of calling the LEGO Outlets is the best bet. The Dawsonville, Georgia store has a bunch of the 9709, which is the 1.0 RCX (external jack version) brick only. Last time I picked some up they were around $60. jt (...) (22 years ago, 18-Sep-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Need Decision Help - Buy RIS 1.5 now or 2.0 later

(...) Strictly speaking, there is a difference, physically, between the 1.0 and the 1.5 or 2.0 RCX (I have a 1.0 and a 2.0). The 1.0 has an external power jack. This doesn't effect the physical characteristics of the RCX as far as where and how you (...) (24 years ago, 11-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Sorting

All the RCX's say 1.0, even the 1.5's. (This is a bit odd, as internally the circuit boards are _not_ the same, and the 1.0 has an AC adapter jack.) Primary sorting is easiest with the Lego boxes themselves (at least for the RIS's). To supplement (...) (25 years ago, 28-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I think your best bet is to get a Robotics Invention System ver. 1.0. It has a good selection of parts and the RCX has an AC jack. Start there, then get some of the other stuff. Build On! John Matthews Scott Costello <scottcos@spamfree.aol.com> (...) (25 years ago, 4-Mar-00, to lugnet.robotics)
