good suggestion. i've put a link to a ZIP of all the pix at the pix page, (URL) 3.9 MB. kinda big, but oh well. this should also help re: the two messages i saw re: netscape not being able to load the pictures. i don't know what's wrong, the pix are (...)   Re: Charge polarity on each board opposite?

(...) Fred, I use dl on a DOS 286, which does the CONFIG register automatically I thought. In any case, I tried using dl -eeprom config0c.s19, with the same results. The dl of pcode_hb.lis runs nominally, but the LCD remains all black across the top (...) (28 years ago, 5-Sep-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Vector 2x giving me lots of trouble...

Hi all, I am having lots of trouble with the vector 2x compass. Sometimes it seems to work fine. Other times it just ouputs zeros (like someone else was saying...). I checked all the physical wiring, and that seems to be fine. The strange thing is (...) (27 years ago, 16-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Vector 2x giving me lots of trouble...

Well, I seemed to have narrowed down the problem I was having with the Vector2x compass. It was functioning fine... All I had to do was write clean code that called comp_disable(1) at the end. When my code wasn't doing that, the compass IRQ routines (...) (27 years ago, 17-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

w/o the ds1233, the contents of the ram will become corrupted during power-up or power-down of the 6811. an r/c could protect during power-up, but wouldn't reset the 6811 during power down. remember it's still trying to execute code as system (...)   Re: Handy Board Problem: getting hb back into download mode

(...) Are you holding down the STOP button? With the board powered on, read the voltage at pin 3 of the 6811. When pressing the STOP button, pin 3 should read between zero volts and 0.6v. Releasing the STOP button, you should get 5v. If you get 5v (...) (27 years ago, 19-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Has anyone built this homebrew sonar ranging board?

(URL) a system similiar to the Polaroid 6500, but costs <$10 to build. Has anyone done it? Should I try it and share the results? (of course I should!)   Re: IR signal

Sounds to me like your LED is just not focused straight ahead. I found that sticking the IR LED in a Radio Shack panel mount LED holder (cat no 276-080a) worked the best for focusing the beam of IR.
