MLCad wishlist (was Re: Ice Cream

(...) I'm not Mr. Big Rotation but I didn't see that as a big issue. Use the fine scale grid to get the rotation about right via the rotation buttons, then adjust by hand in the properties??? If I were naming off things to fix in MLCad my number one (...) (25 years ago, 2-Nov-99, to lugnet.cad)

Re: The "geography" of local space

This thread just keeps going and going! (...) Right. Lindsay is referring to HD 209458. Catchy name, huh? 8^) The Doppler shift research team that I mentioned in an earlier post predicted that HD 209458 has a planetary companion. The object is (...) (25 years ago, 20-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

Re: track, 9 volt. mockup, measurement request of this part

Hello all, I've noticed there is a mockup file being passed around, wich proofs there is a definite need for an official part #2865 - Train Track  9V Straight. Hmm.. it's a nice difficult one. Would you please answer the following questions: 1. Has (...) (25 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

(...) Yep. You used the wrong phone cord between the HB and the serial interface board. Fred recently answered that question on this group, I'd direct you to the archives of this list but I don't know where that is. The phone cord, I *think*, is (...)   Re: positioning of robot

I missed the first posting, I liked the summary posted by John Whitten. Youcan take his posting one layer "up" to get at the abstractions if you want. These are: 1. Points of contact with the surface - More increases stability. 2. Drive Train (...) (27 years ago, 15-Aug-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

If you're talking about being "chopped up for hamburger", though, I think you're better off referencing Soylent Green. ;) Okay, now it's time to render "Time Bandits" or "Buckaroo Bonzai Across the 8th Dimension" with SW Lego--...   RE: IR scanner

Like Pete said, this won't work. When people use lasers (or sonar) to measure distance, they reflect the signal back to the source and use phase shift to make the measurement. The proposed scheme would have to compare arrival times between the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Um. Your frequencies are out somewhere... There is a factor of ten 'slip' in the figures being used here. In fact your oscillator needs to be at ten times this frequency for a 1ft/Hz measurement. (the figure in the first line should be (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: IR scanner

The biggest problem I see with using rotating platforms, etc. is that they are slow and use up a bunch of I/O ports to implement well. There are a number of "one pixel" sensors that you can use with these implementations -- several have been (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) yeah I've had a stab at this a while ago. I should write this up I guess. The main problem I found with the spirit.ocx is the that (as far as I can tell) is not a console app, say like an ActiveX dll. Read the steps below I took.... 1. Install (...)   RE: Tilt

The halobot I built uses a pure lego mechanism that does a similar trick with a rotation sensor ((URL) I use it for bump detection, but it would be serviceable as a tilt sensor. It takes a pretty good "tilt" to register the rotation sensor in a (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

I will add this to the FAQ, because it is not obvious, but the HB power circuitry was designed explicitly for CHEAPO UNREGULATED WALL WARTS ONLY. sorry, Fred In your message (...)   5206 timer

In the instructions of 8238, there are details of the new 5206 timer set. It is a small device with LCD display linked to a rotation sensor by a piece of wire.   Re: Easy way for floating point calculations with RCX

Well it depends on how you do it. If you are going to use the trig calculations, then you need LegOs. If you are just converting the rotation sensor pulses to a measurement, then you should be able to get away with integers, if you adjust the (...) (25 years ago, 25-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  2D positioning ???
