In the instructions of 8238, there are details of the new 5206 timer set.
It is a small device with LCD display linked to a rotation sensor by a piece
of wire. The instructions show how to fit it to the back axle of one of the
dragsters.
It would appear to have several measurement modes: speed, distance and time.
I have posted a picture (which would actually appear to be a mock up because
the LCD display does not look right) at
http://nt1.pncl.co.uk/huw/search.asp?set=5206
It would also appear that the set is available only directly from LEGO -- it
says "To order this item please contact: <long list of European LEGO office
phone numbers>"

| This thing looks like it uses the same technology as a basic cycle "computer". The price is very comparable. This suggests to me that they have just bought the technology, rather than doing their own R&D. No point in reinventing the wheel I suppose. (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jan-00, to lugnet.technic)
