Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) One possibility would be to have a compiler that compiles NXT graphical code into ARM code, or NXT executable into ARM code (kind of like a Java just in time compiler). This would bypass the interpreter of the firmware and potentially give you (...) (19 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Using NXT in a name - legal?

I just started working with José David Parra on a redesign of his original namespace, so now maybe he'll have to rename it, too. :) What's LEGO's position on code namespaces, (...)   Help me improve the Wikipedia article about Mindstorms?

The Wikipedia article about Lego Mindstorms ((URL) is really paltry on the details. There's nothing in there about Spybotics, or Cybermaster, or Micro Scout, or the improvements in the RCX firmware releases, or how the RCX can control the Scout, or (...)   Re: turtle coding kit (Re: How would we (the rest of us) communicate ideas to the MDP?)

(...) The question is just how much of this is handled at what level within the NXT firmware & software. I'd be surprised if LEGO doesn't do *something* with the built-in encoders - after all, *they* put them there. the question is how much. The (...) (19 years ago, 22-Feb-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What's the latest RCX firmware?

Thanks to Michael Barrett Andersen for helping me find the answer: the latest firmware is version 0328, and is available as part of the Mindstorms 2.5 SDK, which is downloadable freely from Lego. (19 years ago, 12-Mar-06, to lugnet.robotics)

I've been working with José David Parra on the next version of his (URL) RCX.NET> project, because 1.) the NXT system is coming out, and 2.) RCX.NET is basically a .NET wrapper of Spirit.ocx, which means it's not so nice to program with. Another (...) My son and I are new to the group (and to Mindstorms) so I don't know if this has been covered recently...
