  Re: About firmwares

(...) Mostly because Java is a safer language than C, there are a lot of programming errors in C that you can't make in Java. And if there's a runtime error in Lejos you get a nice exception, with your firmware still alive. When I tried legOS 1 1/2 (...) (23 years ago, 23-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Question about RIS version differences

There are four aspects to the RIS kit and the RCX brick: 1. Hardware. This is primarily the RCX brick itself. As other posts have pointed out the main difference is that the original RCX 1.0 brick has a power adapter jack, while later versions (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Question about RIS version differences

There have been three different box labellings: 1.0, 1.5, 2.0. However, the RCXs in boxes labelled 1.5 still said 1.0 on the side. RCXs from RIS 1.5 and 2.0 have no adapter jack. (...) All 1.0's have the 9v external power jack. Early 1.5's also had the external power jack (mine did!) Later 1.5's and all 2.0's seen so far do not have an external jack. Aside from that, the three RCX's appear to be identical. RIS 1.0 and 1.5 (...) (23 years ago, 30-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics)

1.0 firmware and remote -- for Jeff W

Jeff, in answer to your question. I just took the time to D/L the 1.0 lego firmware into the RCX and the lego remote worked well with that RCX. so the short answer is yes. -- Chris Visit my newly revamped walker page @ (URL) (23 years ago, 17-Nov-01, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
