Also, which version of the 'official' software do you think is best?  I'll
probably be moving to legOS or something similar eventually, but I'm
curious.

The best 'official' software is ROBOLAB 2.5.  It can do everything that the
standard firmware can do, plus it incorporates:

* Internet Communication with 'ROBOLAB Server' (included)
* Data Graphing and Comparison
* Data Analysis (with ROBOLAB or with LabVIEW, including things like Power
Spectrum FFTs so you can get a speed from a light sensor graph of a spinning
black and white wheel, for example)
* Works with Serial Interface Box
* Presentation modes, including turning your Project (data, programs, notes,
jpgs) into a folder of HTML pages for you.
* Video Camera compatibility (not just LEGO camera), including using the camera
as a sensor (brightest spot, etc.)
* Compatible with Macs
* DCP sensor calibrations included (DCP sensors like acceleration, lux,
barometric pressure, redox, voltage, temperature, rotation, microphone [sound
level only], etc.)

  Question about RIS version differences

Hello everyone, I'm sort of new here, at least to this newsgroup. Can someone sum up the the differences between the Robotic Invention Systems versions 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0? Ignore the parts lists, I already know about those. What I want to know is the (...) (23 years ago, 28-Oct-01, to lugnet.robotics)
