  Re: PCS Recon Lunar Lander

(...) Heh, yeah. I left an unfinished six-foot long ship sitting for about four months before I got off of my duff and finished it. I've yet to photograph it, though it's been sitting in my room for about six or seven months. The main reason is that (...) (21 years ago, 5-Sep-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)

How extensively do you plan ships?

How extensively do all of you plan your vessels before you commence with construction? Personally, I usually do a small doodle or just start building before making a ship of less than 120 studs. When the ships are larger than that, I generally do a (...) (21 years ago, 5-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) That's cool. I usually make silhouette sketches as well, usually top-down, side, and forward views. I was zoning out in trig' thinking about a ship that I plan to make, and thought of several construction techniques I need to use. Too bad my (...) (21 years ago, 6-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) China going into space unfortunately signals a new rise in their power. However, this could very well give the USA the impetus to fully explore and exploit space.   New MOC: Pretoria Class Carrier

(URL) started construction of this ship in January (or maybe it was Decemeber, I don't remember which) of 2003, it took about 7 more months for me to finish the model. That's a great ship. I love the functional yet exquisitely detailed design. All of the features of the craft seem extremely natural, they go very well together. Your engineering is impressive as well. Are those landing struts pneumatically operated? (20 years ago, 15-May-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Jesus H. Christ. That's a huge, complex ship. I'd estimate that the parts alone cost $1500-2000, and the craft took 14+ months to build. How close am I? The structural engineering must be robust indeed. Great job. More commentary would be (...) (20 years ago, 15-May-04, to lugnet.space)
