China going into space unfortunately signals a new rise in their power. However,
this could very well give the USA the impetus to fully explore and exploit
space. We ALWAYS need a common enemy or 'strategic competitor', otherwise groups
always turn against eachother after a period of time.

| (...) Ah, now this is the best argument I've heard in response to my comment. Anyone going to space is ok. But I think it' sad that the USA is letting time and opportunity pass us by. That a 'competitor' could respark a space race, a public interest (...) (21 years ago, 27-Sep-03, to lugnet.space)
