I started construction of this ship in January (or maybe it was
Decemeber, I don't remember which) of 2003, it took about 7 more months
for me to finish the model. Eventually, it came out to more than 6 feet
long, and weighed in at about 40 pounds. At maximum, it was about 240
studs long, 36 studs wide, and 40 bricks high. This was actually a
microfig ship, albeit a larger-than-average one.
The ship consisted of 2 decks, with "drop-shafts" for the moving of
munitions and fighters (I was too lazy to make elevators). I estimate
that the vessel could hold at least 60 7-stud long by 6-stud wide
fighters. I made about 30 of these, but I haven't a clue as to where
they went, thus the lack of pictures of such. I've also additional
pictures of the ship, but alas, I lost those, too. :p I'll probably
find them in a few months, hah. Originally, the ship was equipped with
giant cannons, but I removed them because of weaknesses in the turret
and elevation mechanism.
The ship didn't really turn out the way I wanted, because of material
and time constraints (IE: I was tired of the uncompleted vessel), but it
was fun to build.
I immediately disassembled the Pretoria following photography, and have
used the pieces to start a new large ship, though this one is only about
170 studs long and 18 wide at the main hull. This smaller size will
allow me to detail the new ship much more than my previous large
vessels, and make much greater use of SNOT.
On a sidenote, does anyone know where I can get some decent, free
webhosting? Ozbricks was a good provider, but alas, they seem to have
stopped their free service. I don't mind if it has pop-ups, but those
banner-ads screw up my entire site.

| (...) That's huge! Where do you get all the bricks? It's also pretty neat. I like the stuff on the top, although it does look a little sparse on such a huge vessal. But my main complaint is that the sides are too straight and plain- from the top it (...) (21 years ago, 18-Mar-04, to lugnet.space)
