Re: dimensions in patents (was Re: 8 millimeters or 5/16 inches?)

(...) Thanks for the info Robert. As a child, I remember looking at the old Lego sets that I got in the early 1960's and wondering what the heck "PATENT PENDING" (followed by a list of large numbers) was all about. I still have some early 1960's (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: The History of LEGO Plates - Part 1.

(...) Well I checked some plates covering the last 35 years. And it looks like not only are there the 2 varieties that Bill already talked about, but I've found a more recent variety. It looks like the circular pip type plates have a new variety, (...) (25 years ago, 22-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: How to tell Cellulose Acetate from ABS

I am dismantling and rebuilding my large Blue Castle (on my website) one wing and tower at a time (4 matching wings with 4 towers) just to find all of the blue Cellulose Acetate bricks which belong to a German wooden box set (#712) from 1962 (which (...) (...) Yes, and I checked my Samsonite green plates. They also have those pips. I tend to think that all 1x2 plates from the 1960's have that pip. Also, on another note. I can now say with certainty that Cellulose Acetate plates were indeed produced (...) (25 years ago, 26-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

  Counterfeit Lego?

With all this recent talk about Cellulose Acetate Lego (made 1956-63 in Europe, 1961-64 in USA), a few people were wondering if they had counterfeit bricks. Most what people thought were counterfeit, were actually Cellulose Acetate. But that does (...) (25 years ago, 27-Jul-99, to lugnet.general)

The online newsgroups are quiet today ..... the "Dog Days" must be here. (For those non-US folks we in the USA call late July and all of August the "Dog Days of Summer" because throughout most of the USA it is HOT (32-38 degree Celcius) and people (...)   Re: hub caps

Josh, While I build mainly in the Town System, I have to agree with you on one thing. That is some of the new colors are nicely muted. I especially like the tan color. It is a much more sympathetic color to build in than the bright ones. Gary Istok (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Ooops, I forgot clear bricks (Ben Rochow reminded me). See below. Gary Istok (...) Clear - Only the regular clear bricks were produced. The CA clear bricks have a yellow hue to them (probably yellowed over the years). Warping is common. The ABS (...) (25 years ago, 4-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Weird and Unusual stuff

I would recommend you breaking up the set of items into smaller groupings. Keep the space stuff separate, and possibly even sell the gold bricks individually. As for eBay versus LUGNET auction, I am partial so I won't comment. I would be interested (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jul-99, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

(...) Since I also collect coins, the name coin collectors use for trial pieces from genuine dies are "pattern" pieces ("muster" in German).   Art Deco (Moderne) buildings using log bricks.

I've been playing with some of those log bricks lately (mostly tan or white), and when you stack them up, they give a nice "Art Deco" appearance that a lot of old buildings in the 1920's and 1930's have - sort of a "Terra Cotta" sculptured look that (...)   Re: Stray pieces seeking home

Eric, It looks like you have some Lego that goes as far back as the 1960's. The 4x4 yellow corner brick was an 1960's item that has been discontinued for over 30 years. The 1x6 & 1x8 white signs are probably from a European parts pack (it may be (...) (25 years ago, 2-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
