Re: Frank's first LEGO train set has been a 111

(...) Hi Ben, I would be more than happy to do so. Lego Trains are not my main area of expertise, so I sometimes will need a little help from my Train friends here. Especially "Train Language" :-) Gary Istok (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains)

(...) OK, I forgot #107. This is the Reversible Power Unit, available in USA/Canada during the same time that #102 was available in Europe. They are basically the same set. In the 70's another #107 came out that was an updated motor set. Gary Istok (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains)

(...) OK Eric, go check when you get home! :-) I have 10 #6075 (10! where the hell did he get 10! - from a 1983 Kmart sale for only $23 each) and they all say #6075. BUT the instructions all say #375/#6075 (Eric, that is what you might be thinking (...) (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Thanks Clark, I knew my list wasn't 100%. Eric Strand also mentioned to me the #080 largest basic set of the late 60's (known as #080 Ambassador Set under Samsonite in USA/Canada). The #080 is a hybrid basic set/train set. Maybe Ben would be a (...) (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains)

Then other times Canada will have some sets the same as Europe, but they are not found in the USA. Then other (...) (20 years ago, 28-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains)

Rarest 60's Lego Item?? was Re: Frank's first LEGO train set has been a 111

(...) Ben, Have you (or any 1000steine folks) ever seen one of these? (URL) 1962-65 European catalogs show the 1:87 cars with a red garage and a white base (the base is incorrectly shown as gray in most catalogs, except for the British ones, which (...) (...) Hey Dave, Hope this makes you feel better (maybe you didn't throw away Lego cars after all). The 1:87 Lego cars/trucks are die cast, but they are plastic (Cellulose Acetate from 1955-63, ABS 1963-70). The only metal part was the wheels and (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

(...) Hey Dave, The moment you said "bottom", I had a suspicion you were not talking about the same garages... There are 2 major garage types of the early Lego era: ---...--- Type 1: Flip-up Garages - 1955-72. This garage type is known as the (...) (20 years ago, 3-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: rarest printed parts?

(...) Up until now we have been talking about the rarest Lego printed part as being a brick or panel or slope. Eric Strand brought this one to my attention. At over $731.00 this may not be the rarest printed part, but it sure is the most expensive I (...) (20 years ago, 6-Mar-05, to lugnet.general)

That is besides the "sorry" from the company, there is no tangible goodwill, as shown with the Maersk Blue controversy. At least with the Maersk (...) (20 years ago, 8-Mar-05, to lugnet.color)

Re: Why are slope bricks textured?

(...) OK, I would love to give some special reason, but I know of none. Ever since the sloped bricks first came out in red (1958) and blue (1960), they have had the textured finish.   No Lego Window System

I know I've complained before about the lack of a "Window System" in Lego. The last system the 1957-87 classic Lego windows went out of production in 1987, with the exception of the 1x2x2 windows, which are still produced. Mostly my complaints have (...) (...) The largest single pane window that I am aware of was the 1x6x5, which had a very limited production in only 4 colors - blue, yellow, brown and gray. Since it was used in the 80's and 90's, the mold is probably retired today. Gary Istok (20 years ago, 18-Mar-05, to lugnet.general, FTX)
