Re: Set #148: Scales in Transition

Mark, I think that LEGO was undergoing a philosophical change in building designs. Prior to the 70's, all LEGO Town buildings had 4 walls and no interior access. After the 70's all LEGO buildings had 3 walls with the 4th being open for access for (...) (25 years ago, 10-May-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Set #148: Scales in Transition

(...) Great Job Eric!! Yes 148 (Central Station) is one of my all time favorite sets. I was lucky to find several of these sets in Germany in the 1980's. It has a wealth of white windows, and both types of older doors. Universal Building Set #400 - (...) (25 years ago, 10-May-00, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Help, looking for pieces!

Good luck trying to find them. The half arches in red and also in yellow are the hardest arches to find (IMHO). I have 5 pair (currently used in my Cathedral), and have always been on the lookout for more. The inverse red half arch, on the (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Awesome LEGO Arch

I recently won some LEGO parts in an EBAY auction that included some light pink and light green pieces (I believe they are parts of a Bellville set). Among the lot was (IMHO) the most interesting architectural element LEGO ever produced. It is a (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-00, to lugnet.general)

  LEGO Direct Wants Page...

I was just looking at Jason Catena's "LEGO Direct Wants Page" about what we would like as our first orders from LEGO Direct. I know some folks might find this process a bit premature, but I intend on adding my name to this list, just as soon as I (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Yes, and that includes the somewhat rare 1x1 fat round (minifig head) in red, which can be found in only one other 1970's set - #277 the Fireplace Set (from the Homemaker series of sets). And the big people heads are (I believe) only found in (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jun-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: Lego layout from the seventies

Yes gray bricks were not available during the 60's, only gray plates. But that doesn't mean that LEGO didn't produce them for their models. They still do it today with bricks and pieces that are not produced for the general public. Just go to a (...) (25 years ago, 15-May-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Where to Get LEGO in Germany?

(...) The real "treasure shops" are the very small family owned toy stores that are located in small towns and villages around Germany. Unfortunately these are becoming scarcer with the people retiring or dying off. The ones that are still left (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jun-00, to lugnet.loc.de, lugnet.general)

One could make a case for saying that any colors not available to us, but available to the model shops for LEGOLAND buildings are the rarest. If these (...)   Classic era damaged windows/doors.

Anyone who has LEGO from the early classic era (1957-1977) probably has old windows and doors that are either faded, discolored, pitted, without glass, or old faded Cellulose Acetate (the red windows are almost orange in color).
