  LEGO as a work centerpiece...

Today we (Information Technology Division of the University of Michigan) are celebrating the successful implementation of Y2K from a few months back. And I am bringing in the centerpiece to the luncheon buffet table..... my 24 story Art Deco LEGO (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) And lest we forget the original colors..... Red, white, blue and yellow and clear bricks have been around since the 50's. The first occurrance of gray was the 10x20 gray baseplate in the 50's. But the first occurrance of gray and black bricks (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Stephen, I do hope some of the "LEGO Bigwhigs" (Peter Eio are you listening?) read this. I've said long ago that we AFOLs are TLC's "LEGO Ambassadors at Large". Gary Istok (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Michigan Legofest pics? What did I miss?

Gary Istok confirmed that: it never happened. Kind of a shame, but on the other hand I'm glad I didn't miss anything. Gary told me the rumor is now that it might happen in early fall. -Greg Larry Pieniazek wrote in message (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jul-99, to lugnet.loc.us.mi)

Heh-heh, thanks Colin. Luckily those Cypress trees would leave a larger bulge in your pockets than, say, rare slopes and classic windows. Interestingly enough, the only AFOL that has ever visited is Larry P., although others are welcome, yourself (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) Mike, I concur. If you look at what is not easily available in sets, then some of the items I listed on a previous post are valid: clear slopes - rare in most any set, 2x2 windows - great for making skyscrapers (1x4x5 or 1x4x6 are too large (...) (...) I hope I didn't offend any 18 year olds with this, it was just a generalization. When I was 18 LEGO wasn't even on my mind. I didn't start into it again until my 20's. I'm 46 now, and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! Gary (...) (25 years ago, 29-Feb-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.people, lugnet.castle)
