| | Re: Is it possible to have too much LEGO?
|
| (...) It is interesting to see that others are also "improving" on some original LEGO concepts. I took an old LEGO blue castle (from 1961), and made it from a 2 tower castle into a 4 tower courtyarded castle. I am working on taking the old '57-'65 (...) | | LEGO Bulk Sales in 1950's.
|
| This week I came across a new revelation. LEGO used to sell pieces via "bulk sales" back in the 1950's. But that was only in Denmark around circa 1954-56, and it was from RETAILERS!!!!. I came across two old 1950's LEGO retailer boxes for 2x10 white (...) (25 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

| | LEGO Architectural Postcards
|
| I received (on loan) a set of 30 postcards from a USA collector recently (I won't divulge his name in case he minds me doing so). These postcards are from the "L'Architecture... c'est un jeu magnifique" (Architecture is a wonderful game) LEGO (...) (25 years ago, 24-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

| (...) No, these are not TLC creations. These were created by European architects, and I don't believe that there are any pictures in The Ultimate LEGO book, but I'm not 100% sure. But they are found throughout THE WORLD OF LEGO TOYS book. All (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish)

| | LEGO as a work centerpiece...
|
| Today we (Information Technology Division of the University of Michigan) are celebrating the successful implementation of Y2K from a few months back. And I am bringing in the centerpiece to the luncheon buffet table..... my 24 story Art Deco LEGO (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

| (...) And lest we forget the original colors..... Red, white, blue and yellow and clear bricks have been around since the 50's. The first occurrance of gray was the 10x20 gray baseplate in the 50's. But the first occurrance of gray and black bricks (...) (25 years ago, 25-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

| Heh-heh, thanks Colin. Luckily those Cypress trees would leave a larger bulge in your pockets than, say, rare slopes and classic windows. Interestingly enough, the only AFOL that has ever visited is Larry P., although others are welcome, yourself (...) (25 years ago, 28-Feb-00, to lugnet.general)

If you look at what is not easily available in sets, then some of the items I listed on a previous post are valid: clear slopes - rare in most any set, 2x2 windows - great for making skyscrapers (1x4x5 or 1x4x6 are too large (...)
