I spotted these last night: - K-Mart at 183/620 has about 10 silver anniversary buckets at normal price ($9.99) - Target at 183/620 has several Gungan Subs and Sith Infiltrators at around 40% off, along with some Cyberslam sets and a few misc small (...)   Interesting Castle on Ebay

I found an interesting castle set from saudi-arabia on ebay: (URL) looks like a variation on the Black Falcon Fortress. Any insights from the more knowledgeable folks here? I noticed that it was numbered 708. (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

  Connecting Via a USB Hub

I have a USB Hub with an RS-232 port. When I connect the IR Transmitter to this port, the firmware downloads fine. If I have a program with a single RCX command block, it's fine too. If I have more than one command block, I get a download error. Any (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: Building a Mini-fig Army, how much to pay

(...) I have to agree... I always had trouble having my 35 Crusaders vs my 28 Black Falcons... that war just seemed so pitiful... (fortunately my armies have expanded... but only about twofold) (...) Yep! Old style castle 'figs like the Crusaders, (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

  Swearing! (was something else)

(...) <editing mine> Folks, I hate to be a PITA, here, but will ya cut the swearing, please? I have to say the casual one-offs here in .general bug me a whole lot more than anything else. It just isn't necessary to do it. Take it as a challenge to (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

  USB->Serial Converts and IR Tower

Hi, I only have one serial port on my PC and it is currently hooked up to an external modem (PC slots are precious to me). So, I was planning on using an USB->Serial converter. Can anyone recommend a brand that has been proven to work with the IR (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  LEGO Fusion reopening...

Hi all! If you did not notice LEGO Fusion closed down just before X-Mas. Well the reopening will happen on 01/01/00 (Eastern Time). All of the pages have been fixed. There is a new model in the models section. The new services section has been (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Big Lego Christmas

My own LEGO christmas was relatively tame. My older sister, her husband, my father, and I went in together to get Mindstorms for my nephew (and we managed to find a 1.0, and I ordered the upgrade for him). I got Dave Baum's book and 8735 Power Pack (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Wow

I, too, am a big fan of Israel. Studied there in college for a semester and liked it so much that I dragged my wife there for our honeymoon (we hiked around for 3 months). It is a beautiful country; having the diversity of climate zones of the (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.loc.il, lugnet.general)

  Re: Subgroups? (was: Re: Hey!)

If we end up going to sub-groups, I think I would rather see them split by function rather than by TLC's somewhat illogical theme grouping. I can see a point of having a separate group for discussing Arctic from the rest of town because not many (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.space, lugnet.admin.general)

Larry Pieniazek wrote in message <386CBF20.F4D0D6D0@v...er.net>... (...) Mundanes! Yes! That's it exactly! AFOLs on the one hand, mundanes on the other. Suddenly everything makes sense. But it wouldn't do to discuss it in those terms with THEM. (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Building a Mini-fig Army, how much to pay

(...) I figure you could sell the horse and the wall section for more than $1 total. And of course if you wan tand snag this set on sales (or even clearances) you'll be even better off. (...) I'll go with that, although I generally price 'current' (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Building a Mini-fig Army, how much to pay

Dan Siskind has a number of castle dudes that he has accumulated, he may or may not be willing to sell some off. I have a picture of ranks and ranks of them, which, someday, if I ever find my driver disk for the scanner, or get the energy to track (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: 4811 Defense Archer!

Oops, I was confused as to which system showed the old catalog, and now it is showing the new catalog. The machine which was showing the old catalog is one of our central servers, still an RS/6000 though. At this point, I would have to say that it (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Happy 2000

(...) And remember, everyone, take an ample supply of bricks to your bunker with you! The basic Lego brick has been Y2K compliant since 1949 or so! Here's a laugh for you, a media type was proudly displaying an ATM receipt he got, dated 1/1/00 (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: 4811 Defense Archer!

(...) I think that last is perhaps a little unlikely. I'm not sure exactly what the infrastructure of our network here at IBM is, but I strongly doubt there is anything Microsoft between my RS/6000 and www.lego.com. I just did a little bit of (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.publish)

Well, (...) You and I know that but the mundanes don't. If you get an instance of a particular set, you have to expect that your mundane relatives won't buy the "but I want MORE copies" argument and refuse to buy it for you. (...) The dark side (...) (25 years ago, 31-Dec-99, to lugnet.general)

Port Block sees in the new nineteenth century

Despite all the predictions of doom and destruction, midnight has come and gone.
