Hello everyone... I hav already connected a hc374 to Y0 of the expansion bus to get 8 digital outs, It works gr8. I need anouther 32 outputs which meens I need 4 more latch selects. I just picked up a 6473 Rescue Cruiser, part of the ResQ line. I don't think you're nuts. A 32 bit micro for Lego would be a cool project. I design Printed Circuit Boards for a living and I can assure you a simple design would be fairly easy. I have been watching the Scout situation closely, and have been tempted, but if the $50 difference (less with the tower, obviously) I think the RIS is the better choice. It really comes down to whose toy it is. The Scout may be better for the (...) (26 years ago, 24-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Adam- firmdl3 uses a variety of tricks to speed up download of the binary. Unfortunately, many of them don't work when the lighting is anything less than perfect. I am planning to by my 11 year old son either the RIS 1.5 kit or the new Discovery (Scout) kit for Christmas. Of course, I want to be able to play too and interface with the PC and even my Palm. It's supposed to go till Nov 30th, at least that's what Lego had in the catalog... I know a couple of stores that if they aren't out of sets, they will be pretty soon either way. About a month ago, I bought 4 "Town Folks" sets on clearance at Wal-Mart, for $1.00 US each. One of them had duplicates of all the pieces...that is to say, instead of 6 people, there were 12, instead of 6 headpieces, 12, 2 sets of coins, 2 pizzas, 2 (...)
