  RE: Line Followers

(...) At some point, my letter had a point about "cheating" by shading the line or edges of the line, which I guess I took out. I've built a large "sumo pit" built on this principle (the floor is shaded with flat black and glossy white spray paint) (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: LUGNET Memberships

(...) No, not exactly. (1) Anyone can join. (2) No one has to pay to continue using LUGNET. Those are both true statements. But not paying to join implies not joining. In other words, it's not a true statement that someone can join without paying. (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.people, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Dear LEGO: Pirate wish list

(...) Speaking of Imperial trading Post cutters, I personally think that two or three different small ships like these (as opposed to ships built with hull pieces) would make excellent low-end stand-alone sets if TLG ever brings the pirate theme (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.pirates)

  Maze Solving with a Robot!

I have noticed a lot of traffic recently about maze solving. I find this encouraging as I am developing a software program called MazeBots. This is a software simulation where you can program up a robot to go through a maze and then watch it attempt (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: LUGNET Memberships

I believe that Todd meant that you don't have to pay to USE Lugnet, but you do have to pay the $10.US to become a MEMBER. I think that maybe that some people would sort of like support another person, by paying the fee for them if that person is (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.people)

  Re: Looking for # 6339

Re: Line Following by Humans versus Bots

I wish I had time to post more on this right now, but suffice it to say there has been a lot of research on how humans and animals do this type of thing. Staying within a hallway without bumping into the walls is actual done by taking a mental (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Line Followers

With just one light sensor, the problem is that you have to guess which direction you just fell off the line. i.e., your sensor suddently goes from dark to light. Is the dark to your left? Your right? There's no real way of telling, is there? If you (...) (25 years ago, 16-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NELUG Turns 50!!

Eric, I could make that 51, and 1 for ME. do you have the recommended 12v, 500 ma DC adapter? if not, that explains it. if so, sometimes when the batt is fully charged, you don't get much in trickle charge mode and the light is off. but usually you should see the light being lit dimly. are (...)
