  Re: AI

Tony- AI is a huge field, encompassing a variety of algorithms and techniques. Some of them will work OK on the RCX, others take just too much computation, especially when floating point is required. Also, when you talk about functions and all that, (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: What happened to Larrys' eBay Hopper Auctions?

Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

(...) Thanks for your patience. Just received 4 of the lil' compressor pumps and have built and tested John Morgan's new double-acting (*correct terminology*) compressor.   update: items moving to 'sold'

Christopher's LEGO parts auction V: I have taken bits and pieces from my previous auctions and the ones that I participate in as a buyer for this format. 19 Sept 99: I was asked about precedence when bids are for the same amount and whether the top (...)   Anybody hear of Promotional Set 1250?

Hi. There's a promotional set 1250 up on ebay.de, I guess a dragster (no picture, unfortunately). The number doesn't register on Pause or Huw's site; anybody hear of this one? It apparently was available in Luxembourg and Belgium. I've written the (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.general)

  Re: "cat whisker" trip switch

Steve, I have also used Mindstorms to run a train, like this. But I used it in a railroad yard, not for a trolley. But it’s basically the same concept. I put the touch sensor at a 90 degree angel with the track and about one brick away from track at (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.trains)

Busy Bee - in the flesh

Well having been intrigued by all the talk of Busy Bee I decided I was curious enough to see what the shop was really like. So on the way back from shopping in Manchester on Saturday I and a couple of friends took a detour and called in. You'd never (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.loc.uk)

  legOS 0.2.0 released

Hello, legOS 0.2.0 is out. If you like to program your Mindstorms in C, or if you would like to try, it has become better than ever.   Re: So explain to me why Lego UK dont do trains!

Hi Lawrence While I sympathise with your sentiments, it's not true that Lego are somehow pulling out of trains in the UK, as you imply. For a very long time, the train selection in the UK has been more modest than across the Channel - I'd guess (...) (25 years ago, 18-Oct-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Lego sale at Kmart, coupon at TRU

I'll second that motion. This is very true. Always ask for a price check. K-Mart and the sale: Time to move on all those purple buckets I've seen here and there. $4.50 (from original $5.99) is pretty decent for 400 pcs. Although some K-Marts have (...)   Re: !!! Laser attachments for Mindstorms !!!

*Real* lasers don't even look impressive. It is pracitaclly impossible to get a laser in the visable wavelengths to cut stuff. Usually UV lasers are used for this purpose. But anyway... in Oz, proper laser pointers are about $60. You can get really (...) (25 years ago, 17-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
