I'm not really sure if this is the appropriate group... None of the off-topic subgroups really fit, and I can't seem to post one to just plain lugnet.off-topic with the web interface... Anyway, someone just emailed me this site-- Apparently for (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: The LD environment (or, Datsville in Space)

(...) The general answer to "why not" is because there's no clear way to get from what we've got today to <any specific future technology>. As more "fantastic technologies" are allowed into the environment, the less realistic the whole thing (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.space)

Re: The LD environment (or, Datsville in Space)

This is good. I´d also like to say that I think that a ground-positioned station with spaceships would be better than a big station, where all the models would have to use the same docking ports etc. That way, I can build like I want to, and not (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Classic space animations

Yeah, I could. I have downloaded a DAT from Lugnet of the Alienator, but maybe I should code in the DAT myself, because I think that I´m taking credit of something I haven´t made. But, I can always contact the author of the DAt and ask for (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Lego in the UK

(...) Well I was recently there and checked out Cardiff and some of its surrounding areas and was pretty bummed out. Just a bunch of King Kahukas (why, I don't know). I thought I was onto a good thing - bummer. Ben (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.market.shopping, lugnet.loc.uk)

  Adults Are People Too!

Dear Lego, Several months ago, I was re-introduced to one of my favorite childhood toys, Lego, spurred by the appearance of the Mindstorms product line. Somehow, from the moment I saw that box on the shelf, I knew that I would be buying a lot of (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: Why are SSIs bad?

(...) My ISP (io.com) serves .shtml so they expire quickly (I believe but haven't tested), but .html files with the executable file attribute (using XBitHack) are served as if they were static, even with SSI code. I use the XBitHack approach. It's (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

RE: 8448 Street Sensation Racing - Are you game?

The problem with the 8448 is that the Lego motor is not powerful enough to do any "racing", or take advantage of the gear box. If you use a single motor and a battery box, then the 8448 moves rather slowly on smooth surfaces only. If you shift the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Why are SSIs bad?

Sproaticus: (...) I am not quite sure what security problems there are with SSI. My main reason for (mostly) not using SSI on published web pages is that I suspect that it means that the pages won't be stored by proxies. Is it possible to make (...)   Why are SSIs bad?

Hey all, I use SSI (server-side includes) a *LOT* on my Web pages. They're extremly powerful and versatile. I'm almost a firm believer. But I recall some folks warning about potential security holes and other problems with SSI. Rooting around the (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.publish)

Other Boxes (was Re: The Sad State of Minifig Box #1)

(...) <snipped description of contents> (...) I can only vouch for those I've seen. General box #5 (moved on) is the worst one I've seen, with maybe ~10% parts in less-than-ideal condition(1), but no pieces (that I recall) were broken, or in a state (...)   Re: It's Time AFOL Take Action!

(...) What you are proposing sounds sort of like the Dear Lego newsgroup. It just needs to be used more frequently by a lot more of us. I'm not aware of any hard evidence that TLG reads (or reacts to) Dear Lego, but it couldn't hurt to vent politely (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: My Lego Obsession & Philosophy

(...) You know it!!! I think one of the main reasons it took me so long to come out of my dark ages was a fear of what people would think about me buying LEGO. Now when a cashier says something like "Someone's going to have a happy birthday" I just (...) (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.general)
