  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

Wow, excellent, Jim! A stunning likeness. The capstones just at the top gives it a very authentic look. And the ruins at the bottom give it increased presence. The inner passage construction is impressive too. For comparison, it would be nice to see (...) (20 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: BrickJournal 5 is out!

Joe, Congratulations to you and the Brickjournal team. I know there were quite a few people who doubted that you'd be able to keep the standard as high as that of the first few issues. Well, they needn't doubt anymore. I have to admit that I haven't (...) (20 years ago, 24-Oct-06, to lugnet.publish.brickjournal, FTX)

Re: There's a reason steam engines use a flywheel...

(...) Thanks for that addition Derek. One issue with high angular velocities is stalling. To get the high RPM you tend to need lots of gearing, and starting out can be a pig.   Re: There's a reason steam engines use a flywheel...

(...) Angular momentum plays a big role in flywheel design as well. So you can bring velocity into it. You can add a small, light, fast flywheel, and a large, heavy, slow flywheel to your options. Also flywheels don't have to be circular and they (...) (20 years ago, 24-Oct-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)
