Sorry to so quickly respond to my own post, but I forgot to mention something. One of the sample models that LDView comes with makes use of a fair number of unofficial parts (15, to be exact). I'm working on a feature in LDView where it will automatically check the parts tracker for unofficial parts when it encounters a file that it can't find. This train newbie needs advice about attaching track to the layout surface. A 6' x 12' layout with 250 pieces of track has to be reassembled daily for several weeks. This is a camp activity and I fear the track won't take the punishment that 10 year (...) (20 years ago, 13-May-06, to lugnet.trains)
