  Re: Legos V6's

I was only talking about big rigs. Do European tractor trailers actually have V6's? Do their mobile cranes actually have V6's? I just wondered because it seems that TLC uses a V6 in every truck design. The Airtech Rig in 1994 had one. The New crane (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Tieran Marine Core Gear

(...) Really? Is it coming apart? I played around with the parts so that I got a pretty stable MOC. I used new parts also. I shake it around, poke it, and drop it on my desk with no probs :). David. (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: TrueType font converter?

(...) Thanks Stefan, I have already written the basic code to export the glyph using the FreeType library. (...) Thanks for that info too - I have now found some refs on the net. (...) the hardest part of the problem, your references will help (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Minifig hair and hats

Irregular pieces with limited need for subpart structure and primitives, like minfig accessories and headgear, strike me as the perfect thing to create with an interactive 3D modeling tool like 3dsmax, Maya, Rhino, Milkshape3D or whatever people (...)   Some of my older Mecha

I finally found time to review some of my older pictures taken during the last year. Here are some excerpts I'd like to share... (2 URLs) When I started with Scout I had the picture of an agressive fast animal in my mind. Something like a raptor. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Lego on the Late Show With David Letterman!

I figured someone would have posted this already. On the Late Show last night (Feb 25th), Nathan Sawaya did a real time mosaic of Biff Henderson during the show. He did a really nice job in capturing Biff and it was a nice plug for Lego in general. (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.mediawatch)

Re: LEGOfactory.com launches... and it's... ridiculous!

(...) I think, (and hope) they have read my (and your) post about the contest and they are doing some controls about all the entries in order to find the real number of different votes (if would be simple if they check the IP number... even if you (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.lego)

Re: Big Bionicle Model - "The Rack"

(...) His name is Giger and he isn't German - he's Swiss. It's a little European country between France, Germany, Austria and Italy. -- shgg. (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: No mention of scale in file format doc

(...) You're probably right. The strictest definition is 1 LDU equals 1/20 the width of a 1x1 brick (whatever that measurement turns out to be). -Orion (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: No mention of scale in file format doc

(...) I was wondering about this number in that otherwise very explanatory and very clear figure when I saw it in the Brickfest presentation. I would strongly argue that Lego, being a Danish creation, is in fact metric by design, and that 1 LDU is (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  GBC does nothing for me

This whole GBC hasn't really inspired me at all. But thats what's so good about Lugnet, differing opinions are, if anything, encouraged. Theirs nothing wrong with GBC, but I've found the few posts offering alternatives far more intriguing, (...)   Re: Parts editing made easy (well, easier)

(...) Thanks for the encouragement! Multiple meshes in a single 3DS or ASE file is now supported. I came across a nasty bug in the 3DS export from 3dsmax that took me a whole day to straighten out. It turs out that if any of the mesh objects (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: TrueType font converter?

(...) Your best bet to get a quick result would probably be to look in some 3D graphics libraries for OpenGL and find working code to get a TT glyph out into a mesh model. Exporting a flat mesh model to LDraw format yourself is not very difficult, (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: 50 Years - Lego System of Play

(...) Well, the obvious one is the 8 different 1:87 metal wheeled trucks. Each one piece. But at a more subtle level - the roadsigns and garage have similar single-use pieces now. But the overall balance of Lego parts now is much more multi-use. (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Impact of New Colours -- 1 year later [Was: Deathstar]

(...) I could probably repeat Johns words in respect to the newest gears in the technic line. I still don't have any 36 tooth gears, as their only available in the spybotics line, which dosn't appeal to me. I'm not complaining though as I know I'll (...) (21 years ago, 26-Feb-05, to lugnet.color)
