I'm working on some railway scenes and still expanding my mountain layout but

Amazing detail on the station! The motorized sliding doors at the end were a
nice little surprise!

For your building instructions, you may want to note that some pieces for which
you used mock-ups have been created. (ie, the 6x4 wedge "under the nose" on
the Thalys model and the 1x4-2x2 hinge on the shunting locomotive)
Otherwise, the models looked great!

Thanks for the tip and for having such a close look :-)
(I probably won't have time to redo the model and the pictures however - but
I'll use the new parts on the next occasion).

Eric,
Once again, very nice. I was looking at the directions for making the
Hondekop train to figure out how you made the "doors", but the directions do
not reveal how you made the door look like two slinding doors. How did you
split the window ? Is that a blue 1x4 tile behind the window?

You're right. Sorry I forgot to include it in the instructions. I often use
this technique; please see several buildings on my site(where the technique
*is* noted), e.g. the previous railway station and the wooden house.
Mind to reverse the (train) window if you put a long tile to the back of it.

Thanks for the reply. I remebered seeing that technique on your gray train
station "study" as I think you called it. That is why I thought you did the
same thing on the door. I am always looking for new ways to fake a door.

Very nice site. I really liked all the detail you put into the train
station. The trash spilled on the ground was very realistic. And I loved

That's the only part of the whole thing that I **don't** like... :-)
I just gotta say, and I think I've alluded to this before, this diorama
really gets me all hot and bothered. Models are great, be they buildings
or rolling stock or scenery... but when all the pieces are in place,
down to small details like moving the pop machines outside, the spilled
trash, the railings on the down-stairs, the flaking stucco, etc. it
really brings the whole thing to life.
We have seen dioramas before but this one is the best train diorama I've
seen. It even tops GMLTC stuff because it has so MANY details at so many
different levels. GMLTC is impressive due to sheer bulk, and there are
lots of things to find, you can stare at it for hours and not see it
all.
But in terms of details per square inch, and realism factor, this truly
is the acme, the ne plus ultra. So far.
Way to raise the bar, Eric.

Thanks for the close looks and praise from all of you, but this remark even
tops my blush factor..
Because of the enthousiastic responses, I plan to add some pics of
prototypes so you who don't know the Dutch railways can see the real thing.
Although it will probably show you where I failed to model them correctly

As someone who likes attention to detail, I have to agree. I've spent about an
hour looking at the details in this diorama. I especially like your attention
to the window treatments. The use of lamp posts in a new way is also very
interesting. And I like the added details on your sloped roof.

These models are just fantastic!!!
I have been literally starring stary-eyed at the diorama photos for
days...hypnotized! The level of detail really is fine. You have taken a
concept, worked a design (thank you for showing the various design studies,
too), refined that design, and integrated it ALL into an absolutely beautiful
scene.
It's not just a train model anymore!
