Hi all,

Again a new model from my side. Allthough I built this model somewhere at the end of 2005 I now add it to my website. Taking pictures of models always take more time than expected and I also wanted an extra tractor to carry. Yes, it’s an old fashioned towing truck equiped with a Holmes 750. It’s based on a bonneted Scania 141 from the late 70s.

You can read all about it on my website: www.dennisbosman.nl

Any questions or comments are always welcome.

Best regards

Dennis Bosman

(for Lino...) Model Vehicle Builders Rejoice!

My name is Lino (AtomicBuilder on Brickshelf) and I’m pleased to announce that I am the Coordinator for a new theme at NWBrickCon called ModelTeam Motors. If you are inclined to build realistic looking, larger-than-minifig scale vehicles that resemble the Model Team sets of yore, then this is the category for you.

Here is an old Model Team set…

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1485184

Here are a few samples of MOCs that I have done that fit within this category.

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=248180

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=261915

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=180240

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=218105

Just because I specialize in retro hot rods, bikes, and customs doesn’t mean you have to. All vehicles are welcome within this category, whether they be retro or modern, so long as they are larger than minifig scale and have that model team look. Also, this category is not limited to just road vehicles, so if you have that bi-plane, speedboat, or rider mower you are just itching to build, then have it done by Brickcon in October and it will be proudly displayed within this category.

One key note is Technic vehicles (that look like Technic vehicles) still remain in their own category. They work phenomenally but do not have a realistic model team look. Sure you can have what looks like a Chevy big block engine under the hood but it doesn’t have to actually work like one in order to fit in this theme.

So bring those jaw-dropping cool model vehicles to NWBrickcon. Let me know you are doing so by emailing me at linotopia@hotmail.com (by Oct. 4th please) so that I can ensure room for your MOCs.

NWBrickCon is an annual Lego convention and exposition in the Seattle Area. NWBrickCon 2007 will be October 5, 6, and 7 at the Seattle Center Pavilion. For more information, visit http://www.nwbrickcon.org

... Any chance of an ldraw file? ...

Yes, I sent you an email (adress as seen here on LUGNET) and added it also to the BS-folder of the model. For anyone, who will have a look at it:
  1. it is not meant for an instruction, so the submodels and steps seem to be a little stupid sometimes.
  2. the pink parts are dull silver in the real model.
  3. I use an old unofficial version of the 1x1x1/3-slope (50746), which might have a wrong direction.
Thank you for your comment

Andreas

That is pretty sweet, when I saw the thumbnail my first though was “that isn’t a photo?” :)

Now it just needs a couple of anthropomorphic cats in it, a case of moonshine in the back, and it could be featured in Lackadaisy (prohibition era webcomic).

This is the corresponding flickr folder with some additional pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/10098915@N07/sets/72157600854980688/

Very nice! The front grill is one of the aspects that stands out to me. Very well done! Nicely colored as well.

Very nice, especially the background! I’m not normally very attracted to cad images but you’ve done a great job with these and the model is strong enough to overcome the medium ; )

Thanks for sharing and God Bless,

Nathan

Hello All.

This is my first post, so if this is the wrong forum, please direct me to a more
appropriate one and I'll stay out of your hair.

I have an uncle who purchased himself a Mastercraft boat for his 50th birthday.
As a present for him, I'd like to commission a custom-made Lego built replica of
his new boat. I wasn't sure where to find someone qualified to do it, but I
decided to start here.

I wanted to know if there was anyone out there qualified, or knew of anyone
qualified to help me with this. We will pay (obviously) for your time, effort,
and for whatever bricks you use for the project. His birthday isn't for a month,
but we'd like to get it done sooner rather than later.

Please let me know if you can be of any assistance.

Thanks!

Hallo Dennis

Your new dozer is really great, you realised some good details. First the tracks, with the tiles, looks really good. Also backside you make good work. And of course best for me, this modell is functionally. How i can understand on your website, you can also control the blade with the help of one Lego-motor, yes? This Cat in this real area (on your pictures) is just fun!

Kind regards from switzerland

You sure fit a lot of detail into a small scale! I have never seen rig with fenders that flip out like that before and at first wondered if you did that just on your model. However a very brief internet search showed me the truth:

Are they like that just to make room for the mechanic or are they a braking mechanism? (That may sound crazy but jets do it; why not trucks, too?)

As cool as that would be, thats not it :-) I didn’t do a real good job explaining, but they are actually staircases for the driver or passenger to get into the cab. You can see a picture here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2442274

Thats one of the reasons I figured I would build an Argosy, truckers seem to like how easy it is to get in and out. And who doesn’t like pneumatics, anyway?
