Hi there,

last weekend a small group of LEGO designers took a couple of prototypes to the fabulous german fan event in Frechen.

Very huge cars, for which the ambassadors initiated a poll (what car should LEGO make?).

Mustang

Aston Martin

DeLorean

VW Beetle

The designers made a poll and asked the fans which car they prefer, which style they like (with visible studs, or studless) and how much money they would spend for a car like this.

Modular house project:

The announcement:

Firehouse

Hotel

Bank

For this project the designers wanted to know, which type the fans prefer, which details they like and how much money the fans would spend for a house like this.

These prototypes were build by fans! LEGO invited them to join a workshop in Billund called: INVOLVE. I strongly hope that LEGO will continue inviting fans to workshops like this. It’s another great step to improve the collaboration between afol’s and the LEGO company.

(...) Hi Stephan, Thanks for sharing these images. Are you saying this thread is a poll, and you'd like feedback here? Or were you saying these designs are as a result of a poll? I ask because there was a poll on LEGOFan several months ago that I (...) (18 years ago, 10-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors, FTX)

(...) Hi, Very nice designs. I just fell the overall look too much "grey". Well I guess it's a reasonable choice for cars produced before the 70ies. And what about the DeLorean? She's obviously modified to fit the look of Back to the Future movie (...) (18 years ago, 11-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors, FTX)

You bring us a great news Stephan ! I can hardly believe it, Wow... Modular Buildings Products !? Could you tell me "the modular" means actually... A: Modularized buildings to make My Own Town. i.e. Hotels, Shops, Firehouses, Police-stations, a (...) (18 years ago, 11-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors)

I gotta tell you I really love the modular town idea, and I really like the attention paid to architectural design. I just really hope LEGO prices these well enough for them to be a real hit. Bravo! (18 years ago, 12-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors, FTX)

A while ago the ambassadors (URL) asked> for ideas for a possible future car set. The restrictions were: •The car will be for display, which means it will have little functionality •The car will have a System body •The car should be very iconic (...) I always liked the classic bug. I am not sure how it would sell in the USA, but classic is always good. I do think offering copies of new cars with the dealers would be a great specialty set. Same with the airlines, copies of the planes people rode (...) (18 years ago, 14-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors, FTX)

(...) Very nice models! My favourite is the DeLorean, it is in my opinion the best model to be made out of LEGO. In any case except for the DeLorean, I would certainely hope the cars to be in other colors. A bley beetle looks...weird to say just (...) (18 years ago, 26-Jan-07, to lugnet.ambassadors, FTX)
