Blue 12x12 1/4 circle base brick

Or is that a transparent base brick ? Let's hope so.

You might be right, it does match the color of the 6x6 roof which is
definitely trans blue (I'm guessing this is actually the new trans blue
that Belville has which is a little darker than trans light blue). If
so, it would be really cool, and would likely result in me getting four
copies of the set so that I can make a nice little pond...

Take 4 of them and use them in the middle of 4 (24 x 24 w 1/4 circle cutout)
green base bricks from 5987, or that's what I'm planning.

It definitely looks like a plate.  Given that the mold is new,
I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting mileage out of it.

Umm, someone's confused here. Pete and I have been discussing the 12x12
quarter circle base brick in 5850. I seriously doubt they've changed to
a plate. Perhaps you're thinking about the 8x8 plate in 5838.

That polar bear in the big set looks nice and menacing for minifigs,
   too.

It's somewhat larger than the Arctic polar bear, and 4 wide instead of 2
wide. The biggest problem with it is that the only connectivity it has
is the ability to hold a rod in it's mouth (such limited connectivity is
common for Scala animals).

Frank, where did you see pictures?

In the Belville section of:

Must say I wasn't expecting orange base bricks in Belville, but Arctic did
use many orange elements with whites and blues.

That looks to me like the new medium yellow orange, not proper System
   orange.

Probably. The only unusual colors Belville has ever really used which
mesh well with unusual colors in System sets are the pinks, though there
is also some of the light blue.

Frank

(...) You don't have to be so diplomatic, because it's obvious that I'm confused here. :D Yes, I'm thinking about that. I'll go back and look at it again--a trans-medblue brick would be really neat.
