Re: LEGO 2001 —Lindsay Frederick Braun
Sorry to follow myself up: Interesting notes abound on the fbtb scans Tim kindly did of the 2001 brochure. 1) The top of the new TIE is a 4x4 radar with printing. Then again, the AT-ST side panels are 4x4 dishes too. 2) There is indeed a black (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Thomas Main
I am usually pretty optomistic and I have liked many of the sub-par set designs that LEGO has done since '96. But 2001 is the WORST new catalog I've yet seen. Allow me to elaborate: The Life on Mars theme... The 7315 shuttle's whole mid section is (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Eric Joslin
(...) Wow, I really disagree with you. I am mush more excited about this year's offerings than those of the past few years. (...) That isn't a big deal, IMHO. While it does make that model a little flimsier, the set is still full of great parts- (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Eric Kingsley
(...) Ooph! Sorry but this catalog has me more excited for LEGO than ever. I think they are definitly moving in the right direction! I am not a set collector, I just want the parts for the most part so that might be the differance. I love the Mars (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Thomas Main
(...) That would make a big difference...I haven't really examined the sets parts-wise much. I guess I am more of a set collector than builder. (...) I like the idea behind the Mars stuff...the aliens look too cute to me, though. I'm sure we'll see (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Matthew Teets
(...) <<<Snip: Bunch of good comments>>> (...) I hesitate to respond in such an "in your face" manner, but I consider this an over-compensation for the last TLC alien race: Insectoids If aliens really are that ugly, no wonder were always trying to (...)          Re: LEGO 2001 —Tony Hafner
(...) Heh. I thought the minifigs were one of the few cool things about Insectoids and UFO. Scratch that... I really like the shoulder pads. The rest of those figs weren't all that hot. (...) On Sebulba: Amen, brother. I do like the theory of having (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Matthew Teets
(...) Exactly, I have to admit that one of my few Non-Lego brick buys have been for the aliens that came with one of the MB sets (The other being their viking hull). I have this hope though that one of these days Lego will start doing some Mos (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Ben Gatelle
(...) Now all we need is a three-fig "hero's" pack a la battledroids <set:3343> (...) Are you sure, this is not really clear to me? (...) Confirmed. There are two of these pieces in the Studios Cameraman set as seen on my site in close-up (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Andy Lynch
Yikes! Look at the size of those slopes that make up the top wing on the imperial shuttle! <set: 7166> (URL) can be deceiving, but it looks like they are something like 1 x 6 x 5 with two studs on the top. It looks like only two of them are the (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Eric Joslin
(...) I'm pretty sure these are grey versions of the Uber-slopes available in the big Arctic base set. eric (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Andy Lynch
Hmmm. I think you are right. I haven't really looked at any of the Arctic sets before. They are pretty big slopes, that's for sure. Hmmm. Does that mean that they have the same angle as the sloped Ninja walls? -Andy Lynch ----- Original Message (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

          Re: LEGO 2001 —Shiri Dori
(...) Not sure; the ninja/adventurer walls slope is 4 (length, including last stud) over a height of 5 bricks, and I think the arctic/Town jr. slopes are.... no, wait... ummm... ;-) I don't have them here, but from the pics they look like 5 studs (...)          Re: LEGO 2001 —James Simpson
(...) Arrgh! Very disappointing. Those POOPS really take down the quality of that set a notch, IMO. (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Manfred Moolhuysen
(...) I gues Timmy is of the hook now, the bullies have someone else to pick on. And possibly a new acronym too: IAG - Insane Alpha Guy Greetings, M. Moolhuysen (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Matthew Miller
(...) It's not the first crazy face lego has made. While I still prefer plain smileys, I wouldn't mind one (1) of those heads -- if only the didn't have that #%$@*! microphone. [ignoring requested followup-to; sorry] (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.dear-lego)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Manfred Moolhuysen

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Matthew Miller
(...) I dunno. I prefer it to the crazy crosseyed time twisters face. (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.dear-lego)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Jude Beaudin

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Eric Joslin
(...) My vote for that title goes to Willa the Witch, in the Fright Knights line. Not only is she stupid-looking (and not actually scary in the least), but the head is *completely useless* as anything but a witch. Or someone dressed as a witch. Ugh. (...)         Re: LEGO 2001 —Matthew Miller

         Re: LEGO 2001 —Eric Joslin
(...) Well, I guess that's something. Still, if I want to make an insane Air Traffic Controller, I know which sets to buy. eric (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.dear-lego)

        Re: LEGO 2001 —Tim Coats
(...) I disagree, put that head on a figure with overalls and give it a cowboy hat or brimmed adventurer hat. I think it makes a perfect hayseed/hick for Hatfield/McCoy fued'n. Tim (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.dear-lego)
