  New 2001 Lego Racers

I just got my Nov.-Dec. Mania magazine in the mail yesterday, and inside was an ad for the new Lego Racers. Y'know, those ugly little critters we saw artist's conceptions of (in the 2001 catalog, I believe). Well, they have the actual sets in there, (...)   Greek Mask Question (was Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...)

Mr. Istok: Since you have a pair of the better educated eyes on the subject, what scale do you imagine this green greek-style pop-eyed mask to be? The direct link should be here: (URL) would be so great to have this mask in minifig scale AND in gold (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Other new Lego for next year

(...) For 1200$ I would expect more than a few large hull pieces with a motor. More life 5000+ pieces and a motor :-) Kev Z #142 (25 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Other new Lego for next year

(...) Get real! They would make a whole slew of new huge pieces that wouldn't even be *close* to real Lego. There would probably be a dozen plastic panels that snap together... and then you'd pay $200 for the motor. (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

  Alpha Team Info/Review

My roommate sent me a link to a review of the Lego Alpha Team game. (URL) it or not, it got a pretty good review, and there are some nuggets of information about the characters that might well translate over to the theme as well. eric (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: When are the Movie Maker sets released?

(...) According to the web site (URL) Available in the U.S. in January 2001 and globally in April 2001. BEN (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Other new Lego for next year

(...) Very interesting. Thanks for the info :-) New soccer sets. Woohoo! :-) Just one question: How on earth is a plane made of Lego ever going to get airborne. Assuming it is the size of regular RC planes, if it were made of Lego it would weight (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

When are the Movie Maker sets released?

Hi, I was just wondering when the expanded line of Movie Makers sets will be released. January, March, April? Thanks, Kevin Z #142 (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

I too thought the 375 castle was the last set with the 1x1x1 windows, but then I remembered that there was a parts pack (in the lugnet database) #836, which came out in 1982, and had the large modern (4 lights) door, the 70's 1x3x4 door, the modern (...)   Re: A good use for 2001 Alpha Team

(...) ^ oops should be 4293 (...) The points I see in favor of the blue area not being flat are: 1. So much of the baseplate looks the same as the 6416/5978/4293 raised baseplate (of course this isn't sufficient in and of itself sincethe baseplate (...)   Re: A good use for 2001 Alpha Team

(...) Hate to disagree but the blue section looks flat to me, the raised part on the left of the 'water' looks like it is the same height right to the back of the blue area. Also if you look closely the blue area has Lego pips on it which sloping (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general, lugnet.pirates)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

I am getting a really good picture of those Minitalia windows... it's making my pupils dilate! So, I have the new white 2x1x2 to stack in different ways, but no white 1x3x4 door, only red. The 1x3x2 would sure solve the width but I like the x4 too (...) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

Erik, Yeah I guess most folks wouldn't remember the 50's (I have so few memories myself :-) , but the current window assortment just doesn't give AFOL's enough windows to build with. I don't know what TLC's fixation with doors is all about. They (...) (25 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

Hi Gary, not all of us can "remember" facts about 1957-1973, but I digress (hey.. my first Lego memory was in 1976 when I built a prairie. You know, the thing that boats tie up to on a lake. I wanted to put a little house on it but I really never (...) (25 years ago, 8-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: Harry Potter LEGO- what happened?

(...) If you ask JK Rowling, she'll tell you that the books aren't targetted at *any* age bracket specifically. The age of the main character does go up by one for each book, though, because each book is about one year in Harry's life. He was 9 in (...)   Re: Harry Potter LEGO- what happened?

(...) The press release says that the Harry Potter line of LEGO will arrive shortly before the movie does, in November of 2001. (URL) will probably show up in the Summer 2001 catalogue as a one page preview. ~Nathan (URL) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.year.2002)

  Harry Potter LEGO- what happened?

Weren't these supposed to be part of the 2001 line? Are they moved to 2002, or just later in 2001? I can't get myself to like the books, but the theme does seem promising. I remember seeing a tv interview on 60 minutes when the first Harry Potter (...) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.year.2002)

  Re: New stuff at shop.lego.com

(...) Looks to me like a regular 2x4 roof/angle brick. (...) I'm hoping plates. Jonathan (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

(...) It does indeed look like the three main characters from the Harry Potter books. Which leads me to the question: why? I do not think LEGO would release the main characters from an upcoming theme ahead of the theme's release. These are a brand (...) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

(...) Thanks Erik. For the sake of all you folks out there I hope they don't change the scale of LEGO again. Just remember from 1957-73 it was 1 door = 3 bricks high. Then from 1974-77 it was 1 door = 4 bricks high with those minifig stiffs. And (...) (25 years ago, 7-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)
