(...) Ted, I'm forwording this to the SandLUG group as well. We had a couple of SandLug members that have contributed to the layout that I wanted to thank. Hopefully they'll join the SCLTC as well.   Visiting

Hi all, I'll be in San Diego about the 6-12th of Nov period. Is there anything much going on? Would there be any interest in having a meeting? I know that the most likely date is the 9th of Nov, which is a Tuesday night. (sucks, but my floating gray (...)   Re: SANDLUG Meeting Set For September 18th

(...) Adrian, What time are we meeting? Also, I wanted to know if a few of us from SCLTC could use a small part of the meeting to go over some planning for an area of our next train layout? Thanks, Mat (20 years ago, 8-Sep-04, to lugnet.org.us.sandlug, lugnet.org.us.lugola, lugnet.trains.org.scltc)

  Re: More pictures!

Mark's is an example of a layout where there are more bricks in the trains than the layout! But I agree with Larry that just because you put more bricks into your scenery it doesn't mean that's where the effort lies. My smallest engine, an 0-4-0 OF (...)   Re: More pictures!

(...) I think each club will be different, depending on its members. Each member either has a specialism or gets involved with general building. It is similar for my local non-Lego model railway club. For non-Lego railways, trains are easy if you're (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Well, I think that too...most LTC's (in fact, most model railway clubs) are happy to have people who's main interest is not the trains, but on other parts that go with the trains. (...) hmm. I think that VLC probably has beaten that number. (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Perhaps. But to me it's not about absolute number of pieces, it's about build time per model. A good train model can take a lot of time. (Time does NOT equal pieces). My mountain has 25x as many pieces as my combine model but took me a lot (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) John, James, and Larry- I took Jordan's message to mean "LEGO train club builder's don't have to spend a lot of time or pieces on actual trains". His message clearly goes on to say that as a non-train guy we've got him thinking that an LTC (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) I have to disagree, it may be true for some clubs, but at the NGLTC trains are the main focus and the town is just something to provide a background for them. As the club as grown we have had more town builders join so there is becoming a (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) I disagree (but not too loudly...) I worked on my last four locomotives nearly every week for almost a year total. The Challenger was at least six months of work, the SD-50 was 2 1/2 months, the "Hogwart's" was only a month. There's also a new (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Some clubs have members that do make very nice custom trains and that do spend a fair bit of time at it. And some clubs go with more stock rolling stock, or customs that don't show nearly as much flair. It's a personal preference thing (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Exactly! I like to tell people that trains are just the glue that binds everything together. It's the excuse that makes everything fit. It's also the imperative that makes everything come together at one time in one place. (The LTC experience (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

You know, I just realized something. LEGO train club builders don't spend a lot of time or pieces on actual trains. They instead spend their time and effort on the scenery around the trains. Those buildings are amazing, especially the ones with (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)
