You know, I just realized something. LEGO train club builders dont spend a lot
of time or pieces on actual trains. They instead spend their time and effort
on the scenery around the trains.
Those buildings are amazing, especially the ones with curved sections. I love
the details. I love that the sidewalks are raised and have curbs. I love the
elevators on the hotel, and that the rooms are minifig scale. I love the band in
the gazebo. I love the rail stations roof. I love that the town has sections
like Old Town, Area 51, and so on. I love the aquarium. I love Superman hanging
on the flagpole. I love that cable-stayed bridge (in the first batch of
photos). I love the windfarm. I simply love the whole thing.
And now I want to join a club, just so I can add my small section to a huge
layout like that.
Fantastic stuff.

| (...) Exactly! I like to tell people that trains are just the glue that binds everything together. It's the excuse that makes everything fit. It's also the imperative that makes everything come together at one time in one place. (The LTC experience (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

| (...) I disagree (but not too loudly...) I worked on my last four locomotives nearly every week for almost a year total. The Challenger was at least six months of work, the SD-50 was 2 1/2 months, the "Hogwart's" was only a month. There's also a new (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

| (...) I have to disagree, it may be true for some clubs, but at the NGLTC trains are the main focus and the town is just something to provide a background for them. As the club as grown we have had more town builders join so there is becoming a (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

It is similar for my local non-Lego model railway club. For non-Lego railways, trains are easy if you're (...) (21 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)
