Exactly!
I like to tell people that trains are just the glue that binds everything
together. Its the excuse that makes everything fit. Its also the imperative
that makes everything come together at one time in one place. (The LTC
experience is totally different from the LUG experience).
(Lots of running trains also make a display come alive, which draws in the
casual visitor.)
Now, if we had some train fanatics...
