Re: Got NMRA? (was Re: New Interurban/Trolley model, perfect for those downtown scenes)

A funny thing happened while I was reading this thread. I got a call from the local chapter of the NMRA, the SER-Piedmont Division. They called and asked if I would do a workshop/presentation on LEGO trains at their December meeting. I thought that (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

(...) Cool! If you have any 4.5V or 12V stuff, you might want to bring it and do 10-15 minutes on the history of LEGO trains. I'd also bring any recent stock trains that you have, and some MOCs. Print out a variety of Track Designer plans to show (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

(...) Nice job. Make sure you bring lots of plates and slopes and small bits, if you just bring 2x4 bricks and some wheels they won't be impressed by what they are able to create. Except for boxcars, train cars just don't *use* many bricks qua (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

(...) Defiantly? Are you expecting armed resistance from the Lionel camp? :-) seriously, your outlined approach seems spot on. ++Lar (who has been getting better at resisting the urge to pounce on typos but this one was TOO funny) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.off-topic.fun)

  Re: Got NMRA?

(...) I think you should contact LEGO directly and ask if they have any sort of 'presentation' materials you could use. This could end up being a thread all its own - "What should James do to impress the NMRA folks?" :-) JohnG, GMLTC (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)

  Re: Got NMRA?

(...) Thats a good idea, matter of fact I had put contacting LEGO on my list of things to do for the presentation. I'm open to suggestions for the presentation, I have a pretty good outline in my head, now I just need to start putting it together. I (...) (24 years ago, 27-Sep-00, to lugnet.trains.org)
