Thanks for the info Lar. How does this generally work? Do all clubs that
register bring enough containers to swap with all the others? Or do you
choose who you want to swap with beforehand? Also it looks like some clubs
swap stickers, M>ltc would possibly want to do this, depending on the
number of swaps, to reduce luggage space required. AFAIK Im the only Aus
intending to attend, though that may change. Certainly the only M>ltc rep
so far.

At BrickFest 2003 in DC we did an incremental swap. Search for posts by
Rob Hendrix around that time, he posted some very good explanations.
Basically, in an incremental, suppose that there are 10 old (already have
each others containers from a previous swap) and 5 new (never did a swap
before) clubs.
The old clubs bring 5 containers each. The new clubs bring 14 each. At the
end of it each old club has 5 containers (one each from each of the news)
and the news have 15 each (one each from the 10 old and the 4 other new
clubs). Mix stickers in or mix in clubs that participated in some previous
incrementals but not all, and it gets more complicated but thats the gist.
So far all the swaps have been incremental. If a club chooses to participate
it is in for all clubs that it needs to swap with, there is no I like ABLTC
so they get one, but not CDLTC so they dont get a container from us that
would be bogus.
Rob did up a tracking spread that tracked who had to bring how many of what.
Thats findable too if you find his old posts.
Hope that helps. (if someone wanted to write up an ILTCO library article on
this, that would be great too!)
Coordinating this is not hard but its good if it is done by a somewhat
detail oriented person... I would LOVE to get a volunteer for this! It only
takes a small amount of time at the con, most of the work is advance work.
Any volunteers???
Dont forget I am also looking for people to give presentations! Rosco maybe
you could do one on modeling trains while standing on your head?? :-) Or
challenges in working in very large scale like with that streetcar you did?

Im thinking about going to the brickfest in Portland.
I just have to see what a plane ticket costs.
And the other expences.
Do we make one container for each LTC ?
Or 1 container for each member off all LTCs ?
|
One per club, typically, although if you want to bring extras you can
|
And how do I put a order in for LTC containers ?
|
If by put an order in you mean say that your club wants to participate, you
would communicate that to the container swap coordinator once he or she
volunteers.(1) If something else, please ask again.
|
On the containers we have our LTC symbol (M>ltc).
Do we date the container 2004 Portland Brickfest?
|
You certainly could, although its not mandatory. Technically it should be more
like this:
BrickFest PDX
Portland Oregon, USA
February 2004
|
What size is the train layout going to be ?
|
That is up to the Train Expo coordinator, (Ben Fleskes) who will be deciding
based on participation and on how much space is available in total
ditto
|
What size trains will be running ?
Six or Eight wide ?
|
Usually it is a mixture
|
I will be bringing Two train MOCs .
Could I run them on the track ?
|
Almost certainly but see above
|
Or just display them.
Do I need to bring track to display them ?
|
Not usually
|
Will there be DCC trains ?
|
Almost certainly but see above.
|
Thanks , Teunis. M>ltc
(hopefully another Aussie coming)
|
That would be neato!
1 - did I mention we need a container swap coordinator if this is to happen? I
forget. :-) If youre interested please contact me...
