I wish you guys all the best on your upcoming show. Mine the trains.org
group for info, there's a lot out there. (like, make sure you have a double
ended siding in the center of your hollow square (do NOT do a solid 3mx4m
table with no hollow, you'll be sorry) to move rolling stock on and off
from... make sure you have lots of handouts (contact me for a copy of the
one we used, or NALUG for theirs, etc.), and make sure you have enough
people to work the event)

Thanks for the tips Larry! Does anyone have any tips on whether a layout of
this size is better done as a full "O" rather than a "C" or a "G"? I know a
full "O" provides more area for stuff, but how much of a hassle is it getting
access to the centre?

Crawling under tables is possibly the best option, unless some hinger can be
developed, but thats quite complicated, and I'm not sure how fancy our
tabling arrangements may be.

Bearing in mind that the lego cruves are fixed, providing a complete return
loop takes up a lot of space. It may be better to have two "O" sections
running parallel to each other. Track Designer time again!

And what do you do about crossovers between separately controlled loops? Just
try & match the controller speeds, or leave one off & control with the other?

I think that on a small layout of size 4x3, one controller could run the
whole show, hoever it makes for better viewing if there are independent
sections going at different speeds/directions.

Well At the Studfest where we had the one giant loop, We had two controllers
(and the track was one continuous loop ie. - no breaks), and what we found
was that the the controller nearest to the train exerts the most influence
although the further away controller did still help to provide some push.

I'm sure that the other Train heads can help us more with this one. How to
manage seperate sections of track? How to create those seperations. I think
i remember reading that a small piece of rubber can be used inbetween the
connecting bits of track to provide isolation.
