Re: NGLTC club house at Discover Mills Mall this summer

(...) Great idea. MichLUG/LTC pursued this leading up to christmas 2002 with no good result. Something we did that might help (even if it didn't help us) was that we prepared a "briefing book" or portfolio of past shows, which showed what we could (...)   Re: NGLTC club house at Discover Mills Mall this summer

(...) Congrats!!! and yes, I'll join the long line of jealous people.... We have on numerous occasions discussed it in our club (COLTC), we just may have to act!! Do you think the mall management would be willing to write a letter that states the (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.loc.us.ga)

(...) Can you say Jealous? Congratulations, sounds like a wonderful opportunity. If MichLUG wasn't so spread out, I'd really be looking for a way to make this happen here. Jason Spears | (URL) BrickCentral> | (URL) MichLUG> (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.loc.us.ga, FTX)

NGLTC club house at Discover Mills Mall this summer

Once again the North Georgia LEGO Train club (NGLTC) will have a summer “club house” at the Discover Mills Outlet Mall in Gwinnett county Georgia. Like last year we will be occupying an empty store in the mall and filling it with our LEGO train (...)   Re: COLTC to display at Dennison, Ohio's TrainFest from July 30 - August 1, 2004

(...) We dug up some more info about this show, and want to announce an opportunity for fellow Lugnetters to possibly join displaying!! The event is going to be huge!! It is branded the "largest celebration of railroading in 2004". Having spoken (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.events, lugnet.loc.us.oh, lugnet.town)

COLTC to display at Dennison, Ohio's TrainFest from July 30 - August 1, 2004

COLTC will have a 30 x 30 foot layout at the Dennison, Ohio Train Festival from July 30 - August 1, 2004. We are still working out the details of the layout, but we have been asked by the TranFest event co-ordinator to bring along Paul Janssen's 4+ (...)   Re: More pictures!

Mark's is an example of a layout where there are more bricks in the trains than the layout! But I agree with Larry that just because you put more bricks into your scenery it doesn't mean that's where the effort lies. My smallest engine, an 0-4-0 OF (...)   Re: More pictures!

(...) I think each club will be different, depending on its members. Each member either has a specialism or gets involved with general building. It is similar for my local non-Lego model railway club. For non-Lego railways, trains are easy if you're (...) (20 years ago, 7-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Well, I think that too...most LTC's (in fact, most model railway clubs) are happy to have people who's main interest is not the trains, but on other parts that go with the trains. (...) hmm. I think that VLC probably has beaten that number. (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Perhaps. But to me it's not about absolute number of pieces, it's about build time per model. A good train model can take a lot of time. (Time does NOT equal pieces). My mountain has 25x as many pieces as my combine model but took me a lot (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) John, James, and Larry- I took Jordan's message to mean "LEGO train club builder's don't have to spend a lot of time or pieces on actual trains". His message clearly goes on to say that as a non-train guy we've got him thinking that an LTC (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) I have to disagree, it may be true for some clubs, but at the NGLTC trains are the main focus and the town is just something to provide a background for them. As the club as grown we have had more town builders join so there is becoming a (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) I disagree (but not too loudly...) I worked on my last four locomotives nearly every week for almost a year total. The Challenger was at least six months of work, the SD-50 was 2 1/2 months, the "Hogwart's" was only a month. There's also a new (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Some clubs have members that do make very nice custom trains and that do spend a fair bit of time at it. And some clubs go with more stock rolling stock, or customs that don't show nearly as much flair. It's a personal preference thing (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

(...) Exactly! I like to tell people that trains are just the glue that binds everything together. It's the excuse that makes everything fit. It's also the imperative that makes everything come together at one time in one place. (The LTC experience (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)

  Re: More pictures!

You know, I just realized something. LEGO train club builders don't spend a lot of time or pieces on actual trains. They instead spend their time and effort on the scenery around the trains. Those buildings are amazing, especially the ones with (...) (20 years ago, 6-May-04, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)
