| Frank, Kathryn is powered by an old 12v motor pulling power from a dummy 9v mechanism in the tender. The old 12v motors generally run quieter, smoother, slower, and just look better for steam loks than the 9v ones. The new 9v motors, however, are (...) | On the ends of one of my 9v train motors the little hooks have broken off. Has anyone else had this problem? I store the motors in a safe place when I'm not using them, and it isn't like I broke them off for any reason. If the hooks get weak after (...) (21 years ago, 30-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

| I'm wondering...... Would it be possible to pull the metal wheels from a dead 9V train motor, and fit them into a standard wheelset frame, and convert it into a power pickup? Seems to me it should be possible, it's just how much work it would be. (...) (21 years ago, 27-Nov-03, to lugnet.trains)

| Even better: by using this part: Technic Rotor 2 Blade with 2 Studs [LDrawPart 2711:7] you can achieve the desired 2,5 stud offset, by putting two Plates 1 x 1 Round under the part (one in the hole at one of the ends and the other right next to it) (...) | First lesson-- the DCC accessory block needs an actual motor attached to the motor output in order for the RCX LDCC to detect and program the DCC chip in the accessory brick. This I did not know.
