  lgauge.com update

I finally got around to updating (URL) with some new train cars and structures. New items are highlighted at the top of the menu. Specific changes are: - DCC page updated to include implementing DCC with Mark Riley's LDCC for the RCX - Cylindrical (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-05, to lugnet.trains)

Is it possible to run lego trains outdoors?

After moving 4 times in 4 years, I find myself with a house. Unfortunately, there is not enough room in the house or garage for a lego train setup. But I do have a large, fenced in back yard with lots of trees. So then, is it possible to weatherize (...) (17 years ago, 14-Jul-07, to lugnet.trains)

(...) This is absolutely correct (I actually work for one of the major companies that has supplied LEGO their ABS). ABS is not good outdoors.   How do LEGO trains work?

This is probably going to seem really silly to all of you, but how do LEGO trains work? Based on the references to 9V vs. 12V, etc. I suspect that they're actually motorized, working trains, but maybe that's only for lights and things? Or do you (...) (24 years ago, 21-Oct-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New MOC - Class 08 Shunter with on-board uncoupling device

(...) Oh yeah! Nicely disguised 9v technic motor in a 6w package. This is a great all-LEGO solution, Jon. Of course, DCC aux output would eliminate the trackside ramp and allow uncoupling anywhere, but this is an everyman solution for sure. I _have_ (...) (20 years ago, 31-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains)

Re: do plain red train doors exist?

(...) The red door with the white stripe is from set 7745. All other train doors that contain red are usually divided into two sections(e.g. 7740, 7735, 7815, 7819, red and yellow; 7715, 7818, red and blue). Those are all the ones I know of but I am (...)   New MOC - Class 08 Shunter with on-board uncoupling device

Here is my latest MOC, a class BR class 08 shunter (nickname = 'Gronk') in BR grey livery based on prototype 08 460. (URL) course shunting is useless without being able to uncouple and couple at will. The model therefore includes an in-built (...)   Re: New MOC: Prototype Class 14 Diesel Loco with BBB Wheels

(...) I found that at low power levels of RCX drive, a technic motor in parallel actually caused the train motor to speed up - the technic motor must provide some filtering of the PWM. I already have other engines using gearmotors, so I used similar (...) (20 years ago, 28-Mar-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Which to collect - 4.5v, 9v, 12v

Thanks for everybody's input. I have made a decision. I am going to buy as many of the 12V trains as I can afford. (I might even buy some to sell on eBay so I can afford more!)
