  9v vs 12v motors

Is the 12v train motor physically the same size and shape as the 9v motor? I'm hoping that converting a 9v engine to a 12v is simply a matter of substitution. I have a 12v layout and want to add a Metroliner (among others) to it. (...) (23 years ago, 19-Sep-01, to lugnet.trains)

What color are new 9V train tracks?

Are 9V tracks still being made in old dark gray, or have they been switched to the new dark gray? (18 years ago, 16-Jan-07, to lugnet.trains)

Is it poosible that convert 4.5v/12v to 9v?

I know at the moment, 9v is the standard and RCA and new products will use 9v, too. I found some of 4.5v/12v sets or parts are very cheaper, I want to know if it is possible to use most of 4.5v/12v sets or parts in 9v system except electric system? (...) (...) After reading this then It got me thinking of how you could do it in a full 9v solution, using the 9v light bricks. Is such a thing possible? How would you replicate the controller? You could do it with some fancy poll reverser swich, wire (...) (25 years ago, 13-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

  9V train motor(s????)

Hi, I bought a 9V trainmotor on ebay, but the seller now claims it is an older model and uses the 12V midrail to get its power, except it runs on 9V instead of 12V. Can this be true? Or am I fooled/tricked? Jeroen (23 years ago, 15-May-01, to lugnet.trains)

12V and 9V on same track footprint

I am doing some experimenting with running 12V rails inside 9V rails so I can run 9V and 12V on the same track. Obviously the switches don't work, but I always though the curves and straights would - but I find that there are ridges across the (...) (22 years ago, 1-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Crosstrack 9v Question

Are the two directions on the 9V crosstrack electrically independent of one another? I'd like to have two ovals that each have separate controllers/engines that cross one another. Will it work with the vanilla crosstrack? (19 years ago, 3-Apr-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Is 12v compatible with 9v???

(...) Hmmmm. Can the 12v power rails be fitted into 9v track sections? If so, you could have a 9v & a 12v train running concurrently (except if you wanta do something silly like points!) ROSCO (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I think all 9V track has been dark grey for a while. You might find sets in stores that have been sitting there for a while with old grey but other than that second hand (or new from BL) is the only option if you want old grey. Tim (18 years ago, 16-Jan-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Bloomin' 9V Track

Today I just sold a circuit of 9V track from some 4534 sets I got during the January 2003 clearances on BrickLink, and when I went to retrieve them I noticed a few tiny spots had "bloomed" on the rails of virtually all of them.
