| | Re: how does a bar code reader work?
|
| (...) track (...) Well, I have for the time being a lot of 12V track, with automatic points and stop signals. I am not going to buy 9V points before they are automatic. I hope that TLG gets into train-mindstorms (computer controlled track e.g. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.trains)

| (...) I just realized that I answered your barcode question without considering what you were trying to do! For your application you can use (or invent!) any barcode system you like. In fact, something simple like POSTNET (used in the US to add a (...) (25 years ago, 30-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.trains)

| | Re: What kind of motor comes with the 4559?
|
| (...) I admit I didn't study the Railway Express motor very carefully, but I sure didn't notice any lights on it! The RE *set* does include a (standard) 9v light, as well as the train headlight diffuser piece. The 9v light is powered by connecting (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

| | 7850 Straight Rails found at store
|
| I was visiting the Georgia LEGO Outlet store today and found an entire shelf full of 7850 Straight Rails (at least 40 boxes) for $6.99. They also had two 2126 for $39 and some 4559 for $109. I have found that it definitely pays to visit the store (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) After reading this then It got me thinking of how you could do it in a full 9v solution, using the 9v light bricks. Is such a thing possible? How would you replicate the controller? You could do it with some fancy poll reverser swich, wire (...) (25 years ago, 13-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

| | 9v idea book: expanding on what I said earlier
|
| There is going to be one hard and fast rule for this book. All models for which instructions are shown have to use elements that have been used by TLG in a recent set that people are likely to be able to get. This is an idea book so everything we (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

| Hello, I have created a fully 9V version of the 7860 (remote controlled signal), but I rarely use it. The isolation afforded by the points usually suffices. If you want more details about the construction, I will have to dig out my notes. It does (...) (25 years ago, 14-Feb-00, to lugnet.trains)

| Actually, to light up the 4559, you only need the 1x2 light brick, and the 2x4 electric plate, both from 5310. I did this with my 4559. Tim Strutt 8^) (...) sure (...) 9v (...) how (...) "black (...) a (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)

| Ben ... IMHO the 4559 locomotive is great! They just beg to be built with two motors ... they're just the right weight to give two motors excellent traction. Two two motor units will pull more cars than the magnetic couplers can handle! To add (...) (25 years ago, 14-Jan-00, to lugnet.trains)
