Hello,
I have created a fully 9V version of the 7860 (remote controlled signal), but I
rarely use it.  The isolation afforded by the points usually suffices.
If you want more details about the construction, I will have to dig out my
notes.  It does require isolation of two tracks as discussed by the others, but
all the rest is pure 9V Lego.  It requires 3 of the polarity reversal switches,
as well as the two lights, and quite a few 9V wires.
The way Frank Buiting mixed the 9v and 12V is very intriguing, and I can't wait
to try it myself.  I suspect the neat compact red/green lights from the 12V set
would work on 9V, I haven't tried them, but I am pretty sure that a few
years ago when I tried it, the red lights from the 7866 12V crossing did work
with 9V power.

After reading this then It got me thinking of how you could do it in a full 9v
solution, using the 9v light bricks. Is such a thing possible? How would you
replicate the controller? You could do it with some fancy poll reverser swich,
wire and conducting plate work.
