| (...) Actually, the 9V motor also had the same issue around corners, but I believe it was not caused by the required wheel slip, but by the increased friction on the flanges when they run at a (fairly large) angle to the rails on the corners. | (...) This seems like the best bet. It looks like it's based upon the the 4-4-0 "American" or similar designs (I'm not a train historian): (URL) that the tender is 8-wheeled, like the Emerald Knight, but having just 4 wheels (e.g a 9V motor) is a (...) (14 years ago, 20-May-10, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) I hacked around with mine after I wrote the review, and so far I've tried the following things, separately and together: Changed the stack to be a 1x1 round. Too small for US practice. Back to 2x2. Put a dome behind the stack. Helps. A square (...) (26 years ago, 20-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

| Dear Hans, I'm not aware of any replacement motor sources but let me see if I have an extra 4.5v motor unit in used/good condition. Also, since the newer, 9v wheels (on both wheelsets and on the motor) are narrower than their 4.5v counterparts, they (...) (26 years ago, 6-Nov-98, to lugnet.trains)
