If you get far enough away, depth of field shouldn't be too much of a
problem. The problem with getting overview shots is getting far enough
away to get a good shot. It's also hard to up very high (which would
help an overview shot, an overview shot from down low often ends up
being overwhelming. A suggestion to groups is to bring a step ladder
along, then right after the show closes before tear down (or before
being shuffled out in the evening of a multi-day show), put up the step
ladder and get an overview shot. Remember to offer the loan of your
ladder to your neighbors also (they probably never get overview shots
either) :-) It may be worthwhile having someone bring a good 35mm camera
for some overview shots.
I will third the idea of next/previous buttons. You may want to talk to
Kevin Loch and see if you could use his gallery software on your web
site. Brickshelf is definitely close to perfect for navigation of
picture galleries.

| (...) Guilty as charged (looking & not commenting)... I was very impressed with the Americana section; especially the skyscrapers in the background. That's a good way to add perspective & make the layout feel bigger than it actually is. The Rock (...) (24 years ago, 23-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains)
