Jonathan,

Your remarks go towards something I have mentioned previously... TLCs
motto is (IIRC) 'Play Well'. There seems to be a distinct difference
between 'Play Well' and 'Build Well'. (snip) . Perhaps the time has arrived • for TLC to
embrace 'Build Well' along with 'Play Well'

Thamks Ray, it's an interesting point which rings a very loud bell with me (by
the way, forgive my ignorance but what are KABOBs? I take it to mean children
who play with LEGO because of the context used).

This remeinds me of various weekend play sessions when I was about 11, A
schoolfriend of mine (still mates, by the way, but he won't sell me his LEGO)
would visit me with some pre-built LEGO trains, rolling stock, track etc. and
we would join forces. The layouts we built used push-along or 4.5v trains with
blue track but the models and the track plans were nearly always based on  the
London Underground Railway system (I could elaborate but it will need several
pages). We used to start 'building' as soon as he arrived and ended up
spending so much time on this activity that we started to fix ourselves
deadlines for commencing the 'play' process.

Of course, deadlines were broken....

I think this means that we enjoyed building greatly but not necessarily more
than playing, we just got carried away trying to perfect the models. The play
sessions were equally enjoyable because, as railway enthusiasts, we both had
knowledge of and contact with the prototype. Hmmm...perhaps we were not
actually playing, but SIMULATING!
