    1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Todd Lehman
Here are four 1999 non-U.S. train sets available in the Netherlands: 1. Snow remover on the track: (URL) 2. Train wash equipment: (URL) 3. Train station: (URL) 4. Container crane platform: (URL) contributed by Paul Wolters. Source: 1999 NL catalog. (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

        Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Larry Pieniazek
(...) This image is better than the one we had before, (mirror Spock's) and it is now clear, to me anyway, that the unit is not powered, but that the middle wheel picks up motion from the track. Again, Will C. did it right, this is a bit of an (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

         Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Kurt Eilers
I do not like the new sets. I do not think that Lego is doing anything new or exciting. The company is going away from sets that represent new ideas or complex designs. (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

          Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Louise Belles
(...) I want one anyway! (...) The important point is, how can I get one. The closest I can come is a friend in Iceland, and the postage would be more than the sets, even if he can find them. So do you have a contact in the Netherlands that is (...) (26 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

          Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Steve Bliss
(...) I'd bet that S@H will get these sets sooner or later. Steve (26 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

          Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Gary Louie and I talked about this offline. That's the way I'm betting too. But if not, a bulk buy will be organized. Wait 6 months, then watch this space for details. (26 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) If you happen to need someone in the Netherlands, I can help, if you want. just let me know. :) Jasper (26 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

          Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Russell Clark
(...) This was posted on rec.toys.lego: While ordering one of the weekly specials today (thanks, Mike), I had the rep check on the new Train sets we saw in that Dutch catalog...they are all in the S@H computer! They currently have availability dates (...) (26 years ago, 14-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

         Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Steve Bliss
(...) Argh! I can't find the URL for those scans! Does anyone have it handy? There were one or two other train sets, besides the ones referenced by Todd. Steve (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

         Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Steve Bliss
(...) Never mind, I found it. (URL) And the thing I thought was a set, I'm now assuming was a "you can build this from your LEGO sets!" type of insert. Interesting-looking swing bridge, I think. Steve (26 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

         Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Agreed. I'd characterise it as a suspension bridge, though, as I saw no sign of a mechanism. The plate is being unloaded from the truck by hand. I have no idea what the fig on the top is doing, though. Perhaps he's a vandal, getting ready to (...) (26 years ago, 5-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

John Neal a user from Minneapolis is not very understanding of the Newsgroup way of communication. He has sent many messages from odd addresses and we need to show him how to do them. Any one that knows how to find him?? Help him or get rid of him. (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

         Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Todd Lehman
(...) Kurt: I haven't the foggiest idea what your posting has to do with LEGO trains, or where you see any postings from a John Neal anywhere on this server. If you have some kind of complaint to register, please do it elsewhere. Send email to (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

Todd Lehman wrote in message <36902568.13481231@l...et.com>... (...) It's different (heard that before) but why are they using a green baseplate instead of a grey one? I guess it's a case of juniorization. (...) I don't think it's that bad looking. (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)

        Re: 1999 NL sets 4533, 4553, 4556, 4557 —Kurt Eilers
The sets are very disappointing. I was very excited by the Austrian Rail Car, which I was never able to find, and sets like the Metroliner. The Metroliner at least looked sort of real and had a general transportation theme. Now, we have all sorts of (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.trains)
