What's the longest distance your train has run?

The GMLTC was in Moorhead, Minnesota for the 27th Annual (URL) Hjemkomst Festival> last weekend. We had a straight-line layout, they had us set up in a long hallway so we used six straight modules with a couple empty tables, and left two corner (...)   Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) So you're not counting stops, just total distance travelled? MichLTC tends to rotate trains in and out of service a lot so that no one train runs the whole time, making us not a contender. But if total distance travelled during a show is the (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) At last year's Festival of Trees here in Atlanta, the NGLTC had a small 6'x6' (URL) loop set up under our tree display>. I had originally thought that the festival would shut down the power each night during the 9 day festival, thus giving the (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) I am not sure what the total distance was, nor would I want to calculate it (1); however, it was my metroliner that ran the outer loop at the shrine show. Nearly 40 days, non-stop during the operating hours, same direction, almost full (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) Too bad! Would have been much cooler to send it to Consumer Affairs, I bet they would love to do some analysis on it back in Billund. I THOUGHT it was you guys that would have the record (for now...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) They said that they turned the trains off at night, but I am still not sure that they did. I probably should have kept the motor as it was... or maybe photo-documented its condition. It was really dirty with black dust; and it squeaked. I (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains)

rtlTers: Sorry for the cross post to rtlT but you'll see why! (...) "The Plastic Dust is Normal"...(1) but the squeaking isn't! (...) 1 - (URL) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) BayLTC is currently in the midst of a month-long display at a local history museum that is running a special exhibit on trains. Since we are operating it five days a week, much of that unattended except by museum docents, we set it up on a (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) I'm lazy too, let's get that straight, but I am also a numbers man.. a very, very, extremely, conservative estimate would be 600 miles. More realistic is 1400 miles. This is based on number of show days (40+), minimals hours/day (5), and (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

Distance? Doesn't every LTC have at least *one* Mindstorms little speed/distance computer, built into a train car? :-) Remember the PNLTC Guinness World Record event in 2000? I guess, from now on, we'll have to build up a car to measure the (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: What's the longest distance your train has run?

(...) I like the SD50. The outer circuit main line of my layout measures 13.53m (90 straights + 16 curves). The speed of the train is 2mph around this circuit, a scale speed of 78mph in 8mm:1ft scale (the maximum speed at which no derailments (...) (20 years ago, 29-Jun-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
