Steve,

My tri-axle wheelsets use a slightly different bogie plate rotation position
with respect to the end wheels.  Also, the ball-and-socket elements are
"swapped".

I'm certainly not sure if this different geometry behaves any better when
being pulled or pushed.  My 3-car set of this design is now deconstructed.
Any chance you cars can accommodate this tri-axle set up?  I haven't
compared the overall length and wheel separation between the 3 wheels.
Maybe that is also different between our designs?

This tri-axle wheelset fits beneath a standard 6x24 train baseplate with the
two bogie plates located at the farthest ends of the train baseplate-- still
allowing bogie plate rotation.

Recognizably, the lower location (underside 9v train wheel) of the
ball-and-socket elements in my design is not ideal. Although never a problem
of falling off during running, I like that your design puts the
ball-and-socket plates in the top slot of the 9v train wheels.

James Mathis

OK, Here you go... (URL) have heard of the translating center wheelset within 3 a axle bogie to irradicate the planer issuses thru curves. Great idea, can you repost a link to that. I'd love to see it and it would make for a good url trail on this (...) (21 years ago, 9-Jan-03, to lugnet.trains)
